Carney Refused Visa

I think the thing that's making the NRL take such a hard stance with Carney is that Canberra offered him a perfectly reasonable set of terms to a) keep his Canberra contract and b) get back to playing footy last season and he said it was too harsh.

He wasn't prepared to take the chance, so he's lost a chance. His own fault.

As far as I can remember, one of the conditions of him staying at Canberra was that he wasn't going to play again until 2009, to teach him a lesson.

Ah that's right, but either way he knew the situation. Plus am I right in saying his teammates contributed to the conditions? So it wasn't just the board and coach being pricks, it was his own teammates. that should've been a message.

So if you were to pick a club that would be scrabbling around on the ground desperate to pick up any player no matter what their history is, which club do you think is asking the NRL and Canberra to register Carney? And no, it ain't Souths, even lower on the likeability scale.

Roosters?

Gold star for broncospwn. I read they are making simpering mewling noises to get Carney on an incentive deal, like a kitten begging for a bowl of milk. What a rubbish club they are.

Carney met with the Gallop and Co yesterday - they basically knocked any chance of him playing in the NRL this year on the head so if the roosters want him, they'll have to wait another year.

[icon_lol1. golden post! hahaha. Stupid roosters.

Ok it seams all doors are shut on tod carney playing this year... except for this last trick I recon he should try.

Which ever club he goes to needs to negotiate a transfer of one of their existing players over to the Raiders in compensation on the condition the raiders write a letter to the NRL requesting his 12month ban is lifted.

At the end of the day the NRL was mostly concerned with protecting the raiders if the raiders see this as helping them then I think tod is a long way toward playing this year.

As an example he's currently talking with the Roosters so in all fairness the roosters need to try to organise a decent player to change clubs over to the raiders as compo... i.e. someone like minichello. Both teams benifit, tod gets his way and the NRL will most probebly step down.

Your thoughts?

The raiders have already stated that even if the NRL was to lift the ban, they won't be giving clearance for him to play anyway. If something like that was even possible, I don't think giving them a roosters player would change that situation at all. They'd need more than Minichiello being gifted to them considering the injury he has had over the last few years. I can't see anyone on their roster being good enough for them to change their mind.

Imagine what the Canberra fans would feel like if Carney got cleared to play for the Rorters.
