Centenary Test Team (Australia) (Official)

That said, Bird HAS to be the NSW 5/8th. .

Are you saying that coz you want an easy QLD win or honestly think hes their best option???

he was horrible tonight, didnt pass it, restricted all our attacking movements, and just looked like he was playing at lock.

It's official, whenever Gallen, Webb, Kite or Bird have the ball I'll be cheering for the Kiwis to bring on some blood. Disgraceful selections.

Finally! Someone with sense!

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how Kite keeps making rep sides for the past like four years or something?
He must be the luckiest player in league.... seriously...
HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW>!>!>

Mate, did you not agree the other day, that NSW will play a barge-bash game? They simply don't have the outside backs, or halves for that matter, to compete with our backline. Therefore, I am deadly serious when I say they need Bird as 5/8th. He is a hard ballrunner and I guarantee will score at least once during the series, running from 1st/ 2nd receiver.

Don't get me wrong Anf...Bird is shit and if Locky was fot and playing, we would have put at least 40 on tonight. I just think Bird at 5/8th suits NSW gameplan better.

Fair call i guess, and yeah i do agree they will play a bash and barge game. But because of their massive need for a half, i think nsw would be stupid to not select a specialist 6 in anasta. time will tell i guess

I just won $70 on Cam Smith for MOM and I didn't think he really deserved it, Gasnier and SBW could certainly feel unlucky not that I am complaining. The game was fairly boring to me no real aggression between the packs not a lot of slick backline play just dour stuff really.

The best bit about the whole thing was the Haka!!! Woot, go Issac! icon_thumbs_u

Would've been nice if the real test captain was invloved a bit with the team. Did I miss Locky being there or has he already been forgotten? It seems the likes of Matt Johns and co are in such a rush to forget about the great man. And the non stop raving, OMG! shut up already, we weren't that good tonight and pretty much lost the last 58 minutes. I just hope Locky is fit for a return some day soon and can hit some form.

i like old phil gould but i think tonight he wants to make out with sonny bill williams or something, he had a couple stings but nothing really flash hot tonight, nothin to talk up, just like the whole NZ team really. at 1/2 time i was thinking this is 2 easy to be entertaining, pretty boring... but then NZ scored and thought it was gunna be fun to watch but ended up being a grind for both teams, 2nd half no fun but i was on the piss so it was tollerable [icon_drun

What I took from this game;

NZ will be strong come the World Cup.

(yes I know Sterlo said it first) NSW will be fools to attack our flanks come SoO, either in the air or running it. They must go up the middle. That said, Bird HAS to be the NSW 5/8th. NSW have plenty of backrowers, they won't miss him there, throw him in next to Anasta (Gidley on bench....maybe Finch too).

Obviously the QLD pack will need to control the ruck, however, I hope our backrowers saw how easy NZ went up the middle against the majority NSW pack tonight.

Gallen and Bird are the two dirtiest players in the history of the NRL.

So yeah, all in all, not much new I guess.

AND imo if locky isnt close to 90% that's how they might win it.

Prett uninspiring game, but a great attendance. In the ast few years NSW fans usually produce a good walk up crowd so I expected over 30k but the final figure was a great result. Sydney fans should be proud of themselves.

In excess of 34,000 there tonight.

Kiss my balls Coxy! [icon_lol1.

SCG holds 38000, correct?
There were a SHITLOAD more than 4000 empty seats.

They fudged that number, which is more shameful than not selling out the ground.

I can't believe how mcuh Matt Johns and co. were raving about SBW. He was a passenger in the first half, didn't do too much more in the 2nd. He was shithouse.

Bird is a crap 5/8, the only time Hodgo saw the ball was off that sweet Thurston kick. Gallen is a real pestasaurus, even i was getting frustrated with his antics suprised one of the fobs didn't knock him A over T.

Can't wait to see the maroons backline in action, it will be glorious. With 2 decent ball players in the halves, we'll run a mock.

37,500 or so, IIRC. Honestly I first thought there could've been some fudging involved too.

Regardless, the crowd still looked great & appeared MUCH bigger than I anticipated.

But that's the International game mate. 34,000 for an International game IS tremendous in todays standards! If we keep consistently getting upwards of 30,000 to International games then the International game will just go stronger and stronger every year.Just face it, Sydney fans proved you wrong, they showed up in numbers and supported the game tonight.

A fair effort by the NSW public but certainly not tremendous. How could this game not be sold out considering NSW people crap on about their state being the heartland of RL. 100 years to the day since the first test, probably the greatest Australian backline ever, plenty of hype about Kiwi improvement and they still had to add some numbers on to let us think it was almost a full house.

As usual though - NSW people will have us Qlders think that this was an enormous effort to get this many through the gates - the tickets were expensive, it was cold (it is winter - it gets cold) - more excuses. Crowds in NSW have sucked at almost every game of RL this year - why should the most significant event in RL this year be any different????

Im not sure of the argument or wateva between u and coxy, but that game wouldve sold out in brisbane, so 34K is not something to be proud of...its passable IMO.

That's the problem with guys like you and Coxy etc. You COMPARE it to Brisbane. Don't compare, just look at the crowd for an International game and judge it on it's own merits. 34,000 for a Test match is absolutely tremendous, ESPECIALLY at the bloody SCG with over-priced tickets and on a very cold night.

Sydney fans turned up tonight and good on them.

But its a sad state of affairs when we think 34 000 is tremendous, thats wat im getting at![/quote:1lqgkt2t]

You know, if the game was at the SFS they would have sold out, near guranteed. SFS holds just above 40,000. A lot of people didn't go tonight simply because it was at such a shitty ground. If it was at the SFS and it sold out then you'd be congratulating the people of Sydney.

Actually, probably not because you're so one-eyed for QLD.

Seriously dude, why don't you just give credit where credit is due.[/quote:1lqgkt2t]

How the hell is 34 000 tremendous for a test match. Club AFl games would average higher than that, Rugby union internationals obliterate that, its about the same as the broncos average crowd and if the game was at suncorp it would have sold out in 2 hours. Nothing tremendous about it, sydney doesn't support league.

1. Club AFL games would definitely average higher than that. But the SCG only holds 37,000 FFS!

2. Rugby Union internationals don't ALWAYS obliterate that, mate. Specify which internationals, please, because a f**kload of them fall short of that, and those that don't are held in MUCH bigger venues.

3. No definites that it would've sold out at Suncorp. The corresponding fixture last year was around 35,000, a grand total of 14,000 more spare seats.

Let's face it, I've stuck the boot into Sydney over crowds for years and I will continue to do that while they continue to suck. But credit where credit is due, and last night's crowd was good.

every tri nations rugby game last year had more people, cept for the one at Jade stadium because its capacity is less than that. 51 000 went to see Australia play South Africa in Sydney.

It was supposed to be our 100 year commemoration test match in rugby leagues heartland and they coundn't even sell out a smallish stadium, nothing to applaud
