Centenary Test Team (Australia) (Official)

every tri nations rugby game last year had more people, cept for the one at Jade stadium because its capacity is less than that. 51 000 went to see Australia play South Africa in Sydney.

It was supposed to be our 100 year commemoration test match in rugby leagues heartland and they coundn't even seel out a smallish stadium, nothing to applaud
I can see where you're coming from. We all know Sydney isn't known for selling out stadiums at International games but give credit where credit is due yeah. Sydney fans did well last night, maybe we'll build on this.

Did people really think Sydney would jump from 25,000-odd crowds in '06 to a sell-out in '08? You've got to be realistic. We all know Sydney struggles to pull a crowd to internationals, but they managed to sell about 28,000 tickets in a week and a half. Surely they deserve a tiny bit of credit for that?

Baby steps hey? It was a big improvement, and an unexpected one at that. Let's just hope they continue to improve. A little more marketing wouldn't go astray.

SCG holds 38000, correct?
There were a SHITLOAD more than 4000 empty seats.

They fudged that number, which is more shameful than not selling out the ground.

I was there and it was pretty full eusa_think You might be basing that on the beginning of the game? Traffic was shocking coming from my direction to the stadium, and probably from other directions too. We didn't get there until 20min after kick off, and there were still plenty of people heading in with us. I don't think everyone would have arrived until 30-40min in.

I managed to catch the last ten minutes of the replay earlier and after they announced the crowd there were a fair few empty seats because people, mainly Kiwi's were leaving early.

It was definitely a crowd around the 34K mark IMO.

Enjoyed the second half, thought NZ did very well against what has to be one of teh greatest Australian sides ever.

They never sell out games in Duniden, and it only seats 25000 (max!), didnt sell out in Auckland till the night, and Christchurch seats something in teh region of 35000. The NRL consistantly out does the Super 14 in ticket sales, ratings, and geenral entertainment. As soon as the ARL/NZRL/IRL learn how to promote a game well, Im sure it will match a Union test match. No matter how much they like to say it, the gap between the two isnt as large as ya think.
