NEWS CEO White: Seibold's a tip top coach

Don’t worry. No-one is leaving the membership ranks either... They have us stitched up with this auto-renewal crap so they ‘can’t’ cancel our memberships at the current time.

As seen in Paul White‘s delusional piece, they are in complete denial about the scale of the football problems at the club...

So not only would they not cancel, they advised you need to receive emails so you can rollover your membership for next year?

Does anyone know our full 1st grade coaching staff?

Of course, I expect a barrage from our Forum wits, but seriously

Not sure who else is on staff but Seibs has been spotted chewing things over with this ex military bloke fairly regularly. Plenty of lunch meetings stretching through to deep discussions over the dinner table, trying to get to the bottom of our bucket o' troubles. Unfortunately the guru hasn't shared all his secrets just yet but has thrown a few zingers our way. The coach is apparently licking his fingers in anticipation, this bloke is way better than the clown he replaced.

I'm back ... only to find no fish in the pond. Must mean it's all Seibold and Ryan part time?

No wonder we are crap

OK, got it

Peter Gentle - Assistant Coach
Kurt Richards - Assistant Coach
Corey Parker - Assistant Coach
Ben Cross - Assistant Coach
Paul Devlin - Head of High Performance
Allan Langer - Trainer
Demas Wong - Football Analyst
Peter Ryan - Consultant

Save for Ben Cross

Allan Langer - Trainer? Not our halves sadly

Corey is still isolated elsewhere?

Peter Ryan - defence, a part time consultant

Should we be impressed?

I’d say Parker can’t be in the bubble because of his media commitments, but I don’t know for sure. Murky waters really.

I note The Storm have Billy Slater as a specialist coach, and they have a Catch and Kick Coach and a Leadership coach as well.

That's a list I provided rna via PMs. That was the pre-season list (minus Ryan) I'm not entirely sure what each assistant's role is. I presume Cross was on defence, Parker on forwards but I'm not sure about Gentle or Richards.

I've still seen Richards, Gentle, Demas, Croll (conditioner) in the sheds. There's a few faces I don't recognise as well who 1910, Wolfie or Smokin Joe could help you out with.

You’d have to wonder how. I’m sure there’s a cap on coaching staff now and Bellamy would be commanding a large portion of that.

I don't believe the cap on the football department is a hard cap like the salary cap ... i think if you go over it, you need to give the NRL money (amount is dependant upon how far over you are) ...

could be wrong though

I guess I was just keen to discover who in our coaching staff was responsible for focusing on key things like leadership, specific skills for forward and backs, kicking and catching, motivation and sports psychology.

If you look at the Roosters they have:

Minichiello to focus on FB skills, especially communication skills (take note Darius and Isaako), a clinical psychologist, a wrestling coach who "Robinson believes is just like having a specialist tackling coach, it is about good tackling methods and body awareness", former Swans star Tadgh Kennelly, whose sole responsibility is to ensure the Roosters wingers can take high balls, 3 assistant coaches, Robinson mainly looks after the back-rowers, halves and outside backs, and 4 physios.

No wonder they are what they are

Locky has apparently been helping out with leadership training

I don't know if everyone knows this, but those corporate "leadership" training sessions aren't about training you to manage; they're about observing you, and looking for organic leadership skills, which tend to be innate, or inherited, not taught. If Lockyer is doing it right, he's giving them tasks to see who grabs the reigns and commands respect, rather than teaching them how to be leaders.

Yes, you can't be taught to have what you don't, but you can be taught to bring to the fore hidden talents

Perhaps, but leadership's a funny old game. It's easy to conflate a will to power with vision, and an ability to rally the troops.

Trump is an obvious example of the former. Leadership is his brand, and he's been extraordinarily successful in selling it, yet he appears to command little respect from those he leads. Boris Johnson is another, whose self confidence, charm and candour, didn't translate to competence. Something that was exposed frightfully during this pandemic.

Sometimes the one who seizes the reigns with the most confidence isn't actually the best choice to lead. It could be the calm voiced, quiet achiever. This is what you should try to uncover in "leadership training."

I get your distinction. A will to power with vision is very different to a will to power driven by putrid myopia and self interest. The best leaders are selfless, and their effect on those they lead is infectious ... hmmm, perhaps I should have rephrased that

I don't know, but Trump will be a leadership case study for many generations. I can't think of anyone who's played this game better. I mean, ****, he's run for office once, and it was President. You don't get more alpha than that. But it doesn't seem to be working out. And, it's not because he's stupid - as many insist - or has bad ideas or even lack of vision. Most of his policies are fairly sound, or comparable with his opposition. It's that organic thing that makes people close to you follow you, because they think it's their own idea.
