Good too see players like Moylan, Tupou, Taufua, Sezer (should be starting J.Reynolds doesn't need to be trialled) and Vaughn get selected their potential origin players for the future.

Still can't believe that Fensom can't get a look in for this game he would be there without a doubt if I was a Country selector.

I really don't care about this match, but yeah, friggin Docker over Fensom is just retarded. Who is their coach?

Who cares about this game.

NSW should be the following but won't be:

1. Jarryd Hayne
2. Brett Morris
3. Josh Morris
4. Jamal Idris
5. Jorge Taufua
6. Josh Reynolds
7. Aaron Reynolds
8. Aaron Woods
9. Nathan Peats
10. Paul Gallen
11. Greg Bird
12. Boyd Cordner
13. Trent Merrin

14. Albert Kelly
15. James Tamou
16. Andrew Fifita
17. TRex

The most telling thing is that Mitchell wasn't selected, indicating in all likelihood he will be the Blues halfback. Pearce at 7 all but ensures QLD at 9 (in a row) :)

Are you joking or are you serious?

Fensom probably wouldve already played 12 origins if he was from QLD. The fact he cant even make one of these lame games goes to show just how retarded NSW selectors are. They pick the flash, attacking players and forget to pick good all round players like fensom

Never been interested in it. At least it's just the NSW hopeful's bashing each other up.

No Broncos, so hopefully all 34 players get injured.

Maybe Fensom is already pencilled in for Origin.

Agreed.

It's a pointless game because it has a confused identity. Is it a game for Origin pre-selection or is it for that tier of players who are good but not great? If it's an Origin pre-cursor, then NSW need to give it some value and only pick players from the two teams selected for Origin games. That way, players know it has meaning and will be out to impress.

The fact that Pearce wasn't selected certainly does indicate that he gets waved on through to the Blues. I don't get it. How can a team that has lost eight successive series have players guranteed a spot? Positions 1-17 are open if they're serious.

Yeah, honestly it's a dated contest that's too half-assed in the modern environment to warrant it's place on the calender.

Country Rugby League deserves better fixtures than this while the game does very little to simulate an Origin match. If anything, the quality is even below that of an average NRL match since the players treat it as something of an exhibition for the Country fans.

So that's why it's difficult to really get upset about the selections. Because at the end of the day, what does it really matter? Even then, most of the selections actually make a lick of sense so getting upset over one or two seems like a waste of time.

Much like the game.

However, just to throw an extra 2 cents in, even if this trial meant anything, I wouldn't throw Pearce into the mix. You already know what you're going to get from him, you may as well hand another player a spot to see if they can impress and force a change.

Qlders love these games because there's always a couple of pointless injuries come out of them.

Not necessarily. Some players are clearly far better than others and tend to stand up for NSW, like Gallen, Farah and especially Bird.

I must admit my enthusiasm for this game is down and I'm not particularly keen about it either. The main reason why I have any interest in it is that a team representing Country NSW is playing and I'm proud of my country roots and have great memories of living there and I also played my first sport there as well.
