Makes sense for Coby but still sad to see a junior leave us. I hope he has a long career at NRL level.

I'm a little disappointed in Black.Yeah the last next big Broncos halfback going to the Titans didn't work out so well. If your going to leave the club go to one that isn't a basket case. That said I think without the pressure and expectations that will exist if he continued at the Broncos his development into an NRL standard halfback stands a better chance of occuring. I wish him luck. Personally from what I saw of him this season he would face some real stiff competition when Pezet joins the club if he didn't really step up in the hostcup next season.
Didn’t we sign Duffy as well who’s also a halfback? Maybe black just felt like he’s spinning his wheels now and doesn’t have a clear path to first grade. All the best to him.I'm a little disappointed in Black.
He is only 19, and Pezet 22. I guess he feels his pathway blocked, which i never saw Pezet as doing. If anything, I thought it took all the pressure off Black in developing his game.
Is Black dominating the competition with the Magpies? Is his game demanding selection into the NRL? I mean, there is 3 crucial years between him and Pezet in development. I'm disappointed that he didnt back his ability, and grit, to win the jersey.
With the roster we are developing, every player should feel under pressure. That's a successful club.
Black can sign somewhere else on November 1 for 2027. So, he's got a big decision to make. I imagine the Broncos wouldn't stand in his way in 2026 if he signed somewhere else for 2027 in a few weeks.
Pezet is going to join the Broncos with close to 50 NRL games, Hunt and Reynolds off contract in 2026, Mam signed up until 2029 and this time next year Black might still be on 0 NRL games and Duffy might even have played for the Broncos and had good games and be looking to re-sign.
Black hasn't even played a full season of Cup yet and certainly isn't demanding being picked- far from it but he's probably where Pezet was in 22 played Cup but looking ahead sees Hughes. Pezet re-signed with the Storm at the end of 22 until end of 25. So does Black sign again and see what happens when Hunt and Reynolds go or seek opportunity elsewhere now. If he sees how 2026 goes his value could go down or up for 2027. It only takes Reynolds and Hunt injured, Duffy taking a while to settle in and Black could be playing NRL if his Cup form is ok. He is 20 in May so the next contract is where you would want to be playing some NRL- which is what Pezet has just done.
Black is with Titan Management same as Mozer, so no clash there.
Well here's Pezet in his only NRL finals match to dateFor people who watch the reserves
..... how should i feel sbout this? (Coby black vs pezet)
Writing was on the wall when we signed Pezet.
When you sign two promising upcoming halfbacks, usually says you're not convinced with your current young halfback.
We have Braithen Scott in development. He's been described as the next Coby Black. With Black leaving in 2027 our halves stocks currently looking a bit short
Reynolds - Likely retires
Bhunt - Likely retires (maybe goes around for 1 more year)
Coby - Canberra 2027
Rogers - Off contract... unlikely to get extended (I'd assume)
Billy - Returning July or so, but off contract... will be 33 in Feb 2027
Duffy - 12 month contract
Ezra - signed to 2029
Pezet - signed to 2029
So at the moment we've only got 2 halves signed beyond next year.
They're likely to be the two long term starters, but we still need some depth... and we need to make sure there's some competition so they don't become complacent.
This. Not willing to compete for the 7 then gl would rather someone that backs themselves.
I like the Raiders, only natural for them to think that when all he does is get gassed up around the place.Greenhouse is up and about like they’ve signed their messiah.
I hope they aren’t right (I don’t think they are.)
