CONFIRMED - Adam Blair to Broncos

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

If you think what Blair does at the tigers is rep quality, you need to watch more footy mate

I guess the Kiwis need to watch more footy too do they? I just saw him play in the 4 nations winning team as a starting prop...

Perhaps we got the wrong Tiger. We should of gotten Taupau rather than Blair. Gavet and Taupau were instrumental in the Tigers early season success when they were coming off the bench.

I don't understand this signing. He wasn't even off contract. We pretty much made him break his contract so that he could join the Broncos. I can't fathom why of all the props in the competition, we got Blair to break his contract. Why didn't we just target someone else. Surely we could have got another prop to break his contract to join us instead.

The only positive is that Parker and Thaiday can now play in their correct position instead of filling in at Prop. Its been three complete seasons combined that they've played out of position. Finally they can return to a position where their better suited.

But if Bennett thinks Blair can add some size and aggression then I'm all for it. We're not in a worse position with him in the team, in fact it's probably better for the team overall as now we've covered a position that required attention. Hopefully Blair can play consistently and just do his job - which is make metres and tackle hard. He also has some ball skills so hopefully he can utilise that aspect of his game as well.
While I like Taupau, signing him would have given us 3 similar props (Gavet and Garbutt) and would not have suited the balance of the team.
It all sounds good in theory to have flashy impact players but it will never work

IMO if Thaiday doesn't have a good year he might find himself signing with the Titans next year. 5 hit ups a game isn't going to cut it just because your Sam Thaiday under Bennett. Griffin accepted it... Don't think Bennett will.

Don't get me wrong, you've made some fair points Unbreakable but in this instance where you're tearing others down with pretty general negative criticisms isn't really doing anybody any favours. If anything, it just leaves me thinking that we've probably compounded the problem if our forwards are THAT bad - which I don't think they are.

I feel like I'm entitled to my opinion, sorry if it's ruining your internet time that I don't rate Thaiday or Gillett as much as 90% of Broncos fans, if they played consistently at their best on the other hand, they'd be awesome..

Maybe they were both victims of Griffin, playing out of position, playing injured.. there's a lot of excuses for their poor form over the last season or two, let's hope they get back to their best under Bennett.

Although I'm not sure if Gillett will be too pleased about coming off the bench, we may be getting a request for a release before too long if he isn't, some Sydney club would overpay for him.

Why the attitude?

It doesn't affect me at all, it affects the credibility of your argument, that's all.

Haha that was more a light-hearted joke since many don't rate Blair after his recent seasons. Did you read the rest of the post? I'm still baffled at why we got Blair to break his contract when we could of easily gotten another prop to do the same. Nonetheless it is an important addition to the roster, especially as a starting prop.

You say we got him to break his contract. Reading between the lines of his interview before he signed with us, it sounded like Taylor told him he wasn't wanted at he Tigers.

Well who knows, but nonetheless he wasn't off contract and still had a year remaining on his contract. I'm actually not fussed with this signing. It was necessary signing. I still probably would have preferred another prop instead of Blair, but I feel Blair will get the job done. He's certainly a quality player with experience and is deceptively bigger than he appears. At 190cm and 114kg he sure has the physical presence and size to be intimidating. It'll also certainly help his game since he's no longer playing with a bunch of amateurs.

Ostesis Pubris.

It's an ongoing condition that's affected a lot of athletes and it's really debilitating.

I'd say Thaiday hasn't been consistent and apart of that problem is that he's been used primarily in the middle of the field where he isn't as effective. It's no surprise he was playing his best footy early in the year when he was mixing it up and running on the fringes.

Gillett had been struggling with injuries since the Warriors game in Auckland. Even so, he still put in the odd good performance and wasn't as useless as being made out.

EDIT: I understand that you along with others are excited to see some new faces around Red Hill but the lengths people are going to justify the decision isn't helping matters.

It's actually osteitis pubis....I'm surprised the auto correct didn't fix it for you ! It sure is a common injury but Thaiday should never be on the field if not fit. I believe he can be lazy and likes to coast. Truth is Glen,Gillett and Thaiday have not been setting the world on fire and its been that way for a fairly lengthy period of time. They are not useless players but they certainly don't appear to be really enthusiastic.

Just been watching some of Blair's 2014 highlights and if anything he add a big aggressive body, with a good offload.

A problem in the halves for a few years certainly would not have made them look that flash. Could be different this year
