Copley or Reed

Would you prefer to keep Copley or Reed if it comes down to it?

Yeah, I'd prefer to see Kahu in the centres over either Reed or Copley to be honest. Then sort out the wingers. Maranta was good enough last year to warrant extended time there. Oates can probably stand another year on the wing, though if we had a better option I'd rather he move to the bench as an impact forward sooner rather than later.

Total agree with unbreakable, I think we are arguing over to centres that are half backed. I have seen Reed do some good shit and I have seen Copes do some good shit. I have also been very frustrated with both, copes can not catch a high ball and also fumbles the ball randomly when running and Reed is busted most of the time and his shoulders are duds oh and he is slow. Both belong in sides like Newcastle, Titans or the Tigers. I would be very happy with a Kahu, Roberts pair and then all we have to do is fix the wings with either an Oats, Anderson or Oats, Marranta combo

Kahu was excellent at centre for the kiwis, but he's brilliant under the high ball, and a great finisher; he's also quick, which the man outside of Roberts will need to be. I'd keep him on the wing, unless Anderson demands selection.

I think things could of been different had Copley received a bit of luck with selection. He was our main attacking weapon aside from Hodges in 2014, and he would of undoubtedly risen under Bennett with some stability in the centre position.

It doesn't help being shifted from left wing, to right centre, back to left centre, and then to right wing. He was forced to play all over the field despite Reed playing average to begin the season. Had Bennett replaced Reed and given Copley the position for a few weeks in a row, we'd see him regain the form and confidence to be a strike weapon on the edge again.

If Copley goes to the Cowboys, I see him replacing Linnett, and running of JT, he'll be a gun. He just needs an opportunity to cement a position. Have a look at someone like Granville for instance. He just needs to be given a go.

Re: Roberts V Gagai

Gagai defending on the same side as Milford would be a defensive nightmare..

Yeah, Gagai will provide better attack but that left side will most likely leak more points than what we end up scoring.

Reed's defence isn't crash hot either. I'd say there about equal in that department. Countless times Reed was beaten by his opposite, only for Oates or Milford coming in to save the day. At least Gagai won't be beaten on the outside.

I know the general consensus is that Reed is a spud (well the general consensus outside of most league experts and our GOAT coach) but Reed is 100 times better defender than Gagai, have you seen Gagai's defence???

As for Milford saving the day in defence, I don't even...

Reed is not as good a defender as people make him out to be. Rarely ever uses his shoulders. Mostly just arm grabs.

Countless times Milford's had to cover for Reed. ie coming in from the side and slowing the player down to a point where Reed can recover or Oates can make the tackle - thus "saving the day"...

Everyone just gets on the outside of him since he stands like 25 metres in from the sideline and gives way too much space for his opposition to beat him for speed.

That's not the truth. Reed isn't perfect in defence but you're exagerating far too much. And Milford hasn't made all these cover tackles you are imagining.

Hate Reed all you want but don't make shit up.

Opposition players wouldn't need to beat Gagai on the outside. All they would need to do is run straight through him. The guy is a shocking defender..

Reed equal with Gagai in defence? Yeah, that's not even close to the truth.

Can you point out some examples of when Milford and Oates had to save the day?

I think Copley should apply for a job at the local tavern, as he's going to be pulling beers after two shitty seasons at the titans.

Not really an excuse tbh, Kahu was all over the shop this year, Fullback, Right Centre, Right Wing. I think he also played on the left a couple of times, he played well in all positions.

Survived fine without copley the majority of games this year, i think Reed is underrated tbh

Ive been told that theres 2 under 20s players Terupe and Pearson are up to the neck in getting that vacant wing outside roberts even without adding in Anderson. Those 2 are highly touted.

1 Boyd
2 Oates
3 Kahu
4 Roberts
5 Terupe, Pearson, Anderson

Thats your 3 going for it..

It seems all your mail is regarding indigenous players, do any non-aboriginal players have a chance at making the side next season?
