Copley signs with Sydney

It's contracts like that that show why outside of our rep players we have had to have a squad of 'solid yet unspectacular' first graders, and why Bennett has had to do so much maneuvering in the off-seasons to get our squad right.

The more that comes out about the Griffin years the more apparent it is that we were one of those clubs that had to pay overs for solid first graders... Something the Broncos should never had been.

absolutely

the mind boggles...

The main thing the contract issue shows is how valuable Bennett is.
He's the reason we got/retained players at or below market value before, and he's the sole reason it's happening again.

I don't buy the story.

When Copley re-signed, it was to little fanfare to the point where Garry had to confirm the news on Twitter. If he was earning that type of money, at around the time Kennedy was reportedly on the same cash, you would think they would have mentioned it.

It wouldn't be the first time the media made up a player's salary and wouldn't be the last.

We cant really miss a player who barely played for us last year in a full strength team. Good luck to the kid. I hope he makes a go of his second chance.

Roosters getting rid of Jennings..... who requested that release?

One thing I cant figure out, Jenning said a few years ago that he hated Parra with a passion when at Penrith and wouldn't be caught dead there but now he wants to go there. Its amazing how money can influence you

That surprises me actually. I was sure they'd find enough reason to punt SKD, tear up his contract so they don't need to fork out any of his contract like most others have to do when forcing someone out.

Yeah me too. Although I bet if Hayne wanted to come back home they would punt SKD immediately and use that excuse.

thanks for the montage Super Freak.

From the footage can't see how this bloke is anything more than a solid first-grader. He's not a double digit SOO player on the evidence of that.

But I do wish him luck with the Roosters. After his injuries he deserves some.

Roosters looking a little shaky IMO. Jennings is a pretty big loss, as are RTS and Baloney. They'll probably be playing Ferguson at fullback, even further weakening their backline.

Parramatta have their best team in years. They've got some real danger men with Radradra and Jennings in the backline and Gordon is still a very good kicker coupled with a Foran/Norman pairing their backline isn't anything to laugh at. The forward pack still looks a bit weak outside of Peats, Ma'u and Wicks as Watmough was a flop last year but if he and Scott perform Parra have a competitive team.

Parra should make the 8 just because of Foran but will not be at all surprised if they don't. There is just something so wrong down there.

Parra will finish 10th and it'll be lolworthy.

Good move for Copley, plenty of bars and cafe's in the bondi area that he can practice pouring beers in prep for his future career.

This will most likely not be the order at the end of the 26 rounds but here are my NRL power rankings:

1. Broncos
2. Cowboys
3. Storm
4. Warriors
5. Sharks
6. Rabbits
7. Sea Eagles
8. Eels
9. Roosters
10. Panthers
11. Raiders
12. Dragons
13. Bulldogs
14. Knights
15. Tigers
16. Titans

Storm are a little high, haven't really improved this season, another year on the gauge for the big 3. I'd have them around that 6-8 region.

1. Broncos
2. Cowboys
3. Eagles
4. Warriors
5. Sharks
6. Storm
7. Rabbits
8. Eels
9. Panthers
10. Roosters
11. Dragons
12. Raiders
13. Bulldogs
14. Tigers
15. Knights
16. Titans

That'd probably be my guess. I think the Eagles & Warriors are built for the regular season, they'll be top 4.

Round 1 just got more interesting with Jennings joining Parra.

They are a stronger side now, still lacking in the forwards though. But they have been a pain in the ass at their home ground lately.. Can't remember the last time we had an easy win there.

But I'm still confident the Broncos will come out on top. We should win, we have a stronger side but we have a knack for being below our best in Round 1 while Parra have a knack for being good starters.. Just can't maintain it for the whole season.
