I think that's pretty fair to be honest. Put it this way - the way he performed on the wing, he'd be worth $250k+ a year at any club. The fact that he's even more valuable as a forward (and will only get better) just seals it.

To be fair, Oates made a point of mentioning how drawn out the negotiations were.

Sounds like they were after more cash and it didn't get solved until late in the piece.
