Corey - Yes, man! Or Norman?

Do you rate Corey Norman?

BP, I'm not going to go through hours of videos to prove each and every one of the times he had time, space and only needed to pass the ball for a try to happen, but chose to go himself and die with the ball. I know there are plenty of those, more than I care to remember!

No one said other players haven't failed in their execution, but if you can't see the difference between a player trying his best and sometimes failing to execute because he simply lacks the ability, and a guy like Norman, who does have the talent and ability, but ***** it up anyway like he does, then the conversation should really end here.

Kick returns and running style contribute, but more importantly, his lack of urgency in almost everything he does, especially in defense.
I have seen balls going to the ground and Norman being beat by other players (adversary or not) which were twice as far as him.
He is generally nowhere to be found in the kick chase, and I have not once see him put the body on the line to stop a try, not a single desperate effort in anything at all, nothing!

That's all pretty subjective but......

Knowing my fullback isn't a speedster....I don't really want him chasing kicks down field. I'd rather him stay at the back in case the opposition returning the ball make a break. The fullback's no good if he's one of the defenders left lying in the wake of the opposition down the other end of the field.

He does have some defensive issues ....that was noted when they moved him back to fullback. Positioning is a fullbacks greatest asset. He hasn't nailed it down, just yet. To be fair though, what's this.... his 20th game playing fullback in first grade? He wasn't a natural fullback in the lower grades. It's not the easiest of positions to get right straight off the bat. It took Slater a couple years to get right....Inglis is only just starting to get it.

and I'll agree he isn't quick off the mark and takes a while to wind up and even then, as I said, he's not a speedster. I don't agree that he's catting it when he returns the ball. I think he's trying to find a way through the line. I think what happens is (because I do think he's still a bit dumb and aloof) he forgets that the defence aren't stopping still and waiting for him to decide how he'll attack the line. That's more like his u/20's days, when you've got more time to do what you want as opposed to playing in the NRL where the defence is immediately in your face. It's no excuse though really.....he's been playing first grade long enough to know this. That's why earlier I claim it's a bit to do with his maturity/age as a footballer.....maybe even as a person. It simply says to me that he's still a developing footballer. Hasn't quite worked it out yet. He knows he can do things but is still unsure of when to do them at the right time.....

His kicking is the thing that pisses me off the most because I don't think he concentrates hard enough on it. He does have a quality kick on him, but at the moment is still capable of producing some absolute shockers. I cringe when he takes a kick at the line for a penalty, because I'm not confident he'll make the line. Why the f*ck Wallace or Prince don't step in and take the ball off him.... I don't know. Both as the senior players should take control.

Still....none of this screams out to me that he doesn't have heart....isn't trying ....doesn't want to be there ......has a massive ego .......is an absolute shitcunt. I don't get the hate....

if it were simply a case of saying, "he's deserting us after we put a lot of time and effort into him and he flies off at the first scent of big money and he's a disloyal little fucktard"

....that'd be different, I don't think I could argue against that.

But the thing is that no one is actually sad to see him go, so no one is actually bitter.

I really don't get the passionate defence of Corey Norman, Peter Wallace, Scott Prince or Lachlan Maranta (lol jk nobody defends him).

Norman is a turd sandwich.
Wallace is a giant douche.
Prince is a stale turd sandwich.

The fact they, along with Mr Mediocre McCullough make up our spine, it's any wonder we can't score tries despite dominating the forward battle quite regularly and having the best completion rate in the league.

A good example of Normans pea heartedness is when the sharks got a repeat set after a cross field kick followed by a kick into the in goal. Corey got out of the kickers way instead of staying where he was and either copping the bump or making the kicker run around him.

I just watched the replay on TV (I was at the game), and admit

It was Maranta/Oates and then Prince.

Ooh, the legendary Marantoates! Whispers speaks of the two players who can meld in to one, creating a versatile combination of fullback/winger/centre/back-rower. The running strength of Jarrod Sammut! The finishing ability of Ben Pomeroy! The tackling efficiency of Chris Sandow! The heart & desire of Corey Norman! What's not to love?

The problem with Norman butchering overlaps is that he is the most likely to find himself in the position to take advantage of it.

Yes, it's not excusable if Wallace or McCullough or Parker does it but one of the main plays the Broncos run is the 2nd man play with the fullback sweeping in and chiming into the line - this is where the majority of overlaps are being created, and subsequently butchered. Piss and moan about Wallace all you want being caught on the 5th, putting up/in useless kicks, having no creativity - fine, but blaming him butchering 3-on-2 overlaps created by the presence of the fullback, well, you're off your head, Braith Anasta style.

The only problem I see with Norman butchering overlaps is that he decides he is Billy Slater and tries to step through the defence when he should pass the fucking ball since after 18 rounds his ability to be Billy Slater has proved to be ZERO

Norman - please pass the fucking ball on 2nd man plays unless there is a huge hole as wide as your ego, or take the tackle if the pass is clearly not on

I disagree completely rnabokov - Norman should NEVER again pass the ball on a Broncos second man play. Or ever pass again for the Broncos, for that matter.

He should NEVER have another game in a Broncos jersey, that's why.

I nearly said he should never pass to a Bronco again but that's wrong - when he's in a Parra jersey he can pass it to us as much as he likes :thumbup1:

Yea verily

Actually I think he can do whatever the hell he likes, in the unlucky Queensland Cup side that would have to endure him.
