Yeah, not bad for an obese, unfit piece of crap.

But still nowhere near the 60+ minutes you claimed earlier :P

Even with him playing an average of 50 or so minutes, the work he does in that last minute before he has a break is far from quality. You can see him generally looking like he's about to have a heart attack at that point. In origin 1 I don't think I've ever seen him look as puffed as he did when he came off after not that long at all, in all honesty I was actually worried there was something wrong with him. If he could get rid of some of that pork I think he could be a great front rower, but he seriously needs to work on his fitness.

I think it was Webcke who used to say that he put the same amount of effort into his first run of the game as he did his last. That's what Price and Civo do now. You know they're buggered, but they're still hitting up the ball or tackling with the same gusto just before they have a spell as they were in the first minute of the game.

It's easy to play 53 minutes if you avoid being involved while you're out there. Willie Mason is great at that.

obviously not too unfit if hes averaging 53 minutes per match.

Emma, how could you say that HE needs to work on his fitness when he averages more of basically everything good for the team than both Hannant and Thaiday, 2 of the BHQ favourites?

He barely contributes anything when he is out there, thats how. Take your Cowboy glasses off. Or better still, **** off to their forum.

Firstly, he's not playing 53 minutes straight. Secondly, as I said the work he does just before he comes off for that first break is far from quality. Some players have the ability to just keep going at the same level, regardless of how buggered they are. He just doesn't appear to have that right now. Before you think I'm just having a go at him because he's not a bronco, I'm not. I happen to think the same about Ben Hannant.

EDIT - Just noticed you brought Hannant into it. As you'll see from above, I'd already thought the same of him before you mentioned him.

How many minutes do Thaiday and Hannant average?
They do considerably more defensively, which is much more tiring than hitting the ball up.

How about average metres gained per hit up?
Webb (109.43/9.79) = 11.1
Hannant (97.25/8.67) = 11.2
Thaiday (93.83/7.75) = 12.1

So Thaiday averages an extra metre per hit up than Webb, yet he goes down like a sack of potatoes when he's hit, in your opinion.

Hannant and Webb make as many metres as eachother per hit up, yet you describe Webb as a damaging ball runner while Hannant is average at best.

And both Hannant and Thaiday do more work in defence.

So again, what's your argument that Webb contributes more? I seriously don't see it. Not even statistically (and as Hammo said, statistics don't make a good player).

And my argument is that Webb is a fat, useless turd who should never wear a Maroon jersey ever again.

I'm taking Frank's side here. I like Webb, and on his day is one of the most destructive forwards in the game. He's hasn't been in form of late, but that happens to all players, so I fail to see how that's an argument.

I agree Clintos - on his day. The trouble is those days don't happen very often at all. Much the same as Willie Mason - both of them should be able to use their size and strength to such an advantage, but both have a tendency to go missing when it counts. I'd rather someone in my team with slightly less natural talent than Carl Webb but with a hell of a lot more consistency. That's why Webcke was so great. Far from the most naturally gifted player in the world, but it just didn't matter because you always knew what you would get from him. You never know which Carl Webb is going to turn up, and more often than not of late, it's been the one who is far from in form and who just doesn't appear to really be putting in as much as you know he could.

I agree. Carl Webb is devastating. He's devastated Queensland's food supply for years.

but see thats the thing............the guys that 'took his place' in the team have less natural talent and LESS consistency in their form this year! everyone banging on about how unfit etc carl webb is must have their head in the sand regarding the other forwards they harp on about **cough**hannant**cough**thaiday**.
As I have said earlier, my opinion of Hannant is the same. But seeing as in this instance we're talking about Carl Webb, that's who I'm talking about right now.

Part of the lure of the Bulldogs was a promise of free kebabs for him from a local shop at Belmore.
