David Gallop......GOOONNNEEEE!!!

I think John Grant will get the job.

Seems like with him, it's his way or the highway.

Another Super League? Moffett thinks so

FORMER NRL boss David Moffett has branded the ousting of chief executive David Gallop ''a disgrace'', and even claimed the sport was headed towards another Super League war.
Moffett, who Gallop took over from in 2002, said some clubs would have ''blood on their hands'' over Gallop's removal from office four months into his contract with the commission. But he saved his harshest words for chairman John Grant. Moffett was angered not by the decision itself, but the process which led to it.

And I most certainly don't want a current club CEO to just be "promoted" to running the game. Conflict of interest immediately.

Have to agree. Imagine if Greenberg gets the job, there's always going to be questions about bias or favoured treatment. It just won't work IMO.

John Howard :shady:
I actually like that idea. I know the bloke loves his league and you won't find many people more influential than him where it matters...

Too old.

We need someone who can stick around for the long term.

Have to laugh at all the News connected people shitting a brick over this.

Kind of wish our team wasn't part owned by the scum.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with News Limited. They've been good for the game and great for our club.

I also agree with Coxy about News. I disagree though about Gallop....the scumbag stripped the Broncs of 2 points in the worst knee jerk effort in history. Later proven to be completely inappropriate as a punishment for a very minor offence. Without a single hesitation he applied the heaviest punishment possible when he had so many other more fitting options. He did it to curry favour down south. A dog who did the bidding of others.

Actually no. The punishment was the correct punishment. In the appeal where the Broncos got their points back and a $750,000 fine (!), the judge at the time said that they should've lost their 2 points, however in the original judgment the NRL wrongly suggested there were occasions when 2 points would not be deducted. Or something like that. The judge made it patently clear that there is NO excuse for extra men on the field and all future offences should have 2 points deducted.

Wasn't it $75,000?

My bad. I seemed to think it was higher than that.

Yeah I fairly clearly remember it was $75,000. If only we could pay a few hundred thousand $ and get first spot on the ladder... Haha.

When did this happen?.

2004 round 3 vs wests tigers. Broncos won 32-24. Later docked 2 points for Parker running on to replace injured Shane webcke who was injured in back play

No Coxy..you actually missed the point. The point was and is now that the offence, such as it was, was not considered a big deal by anyone in the game. The offence had occurred dozens of times during that season alone and hundreds of times in the past. What Sir Lawrence said was correct in the sense that having extra players on the field was a serious breach however like Shakespeare wrote, it was more honoured in the breach than the observance !!...it happened all the time with a player technically being on the field at the same time as a player being replaced quite often passing each other a few metres into the field of play. Gallop knew this full well as did every other person who had watched a game live.

What caused the pain was Brisbane scored during those brief moments when we technically had 14 on the field. The player in question was felled by an illegal action(knocked rotten actually) and was 70metres from the play. The referee erred in calling play to resume instead of waiting for the replacement player Brisbane was entitled to. All this was known and the f,kin dog Gallop still acted as though Brisbane had committed some heinous crime.Sanctimonious prick. all righteous with indignation. It was a massive over reaction. defend him all you like but he was never anything but a NSW lackey, a lapdog....glad he's gone.
