Honestly, i'm sick of this clown leading the nrl, NRL needs a new ceo immediately.

One question I want to ask though is his job security! Deadset, every ceo in the game is under constant pressure and speculation they might lose their job except for him, his job seems safer than the popes position in the church, when will this guy get sacked? and who do you think would be an good replacement who can take the game forward.

Which way is forward?

It's easy to be a critic with no better plan. Expand.

What's he done to deserve this somewhat random outburst today?

I actually think he is doing a better job now than I did 2 years ago. He is between a rock and a hardplace with merging/relocating/removing poorly performing Sydney clubs with the threats of legal action and supporter backlash. He has been pretty firm with player behaviour and I just hope he takes a firm stance on the state of the game in NSW pretty soon otherwise we may need a change but for now he is doing his job well enough.

+1 MB. I think he's doing a good job to be honest.

Yup, I too feel Gallop is handling a rouge comp well.

The only 2 negative issues I see affecting the game is;

- Poor off field behaviour from players
- Decreased [rofit from 9 teams within 80kms of each other

Gallop is doing a decent job with the first issue and any person who touches the second issue without serious study and massive support is goign to have his head roll in the pathetic RL backwater that is Sydney. The NSWRL and co. are actually the people holding the game back, not Gallop.

Once someone either manages to combine all RL boards throughout Australia or manages to convince at least 2 Sydney teams to merge/relocate/die, the game and revenue will struggle.

+1 Hammo.

I'm sick of agreeing with you.

+ 2, thanks for elaborating on my initial comments on the subject, you said exactly what I was thinking.

I know. Let's get all the Sunday Roast boys in to replace Gallop, because they will come up with a whole host of new rules and then "make changes overnight because it's for the good of the game". Never mind consulting with others, it's just a waste of time. Lol @ Mark Geyer.

I agree with the others. Gallop is making a decent go of what is a very difficult job at the moment.

Really? I'm suprised by the responses here, I thought most rl fans didn't like him.

He's an annoying douchebag to look at, but I mean c'mon, why bag him for a job well done?

Judging by your soft spot for El masri and the Bulldogs you probably know a lot of Bulldogs fans. They, quite understandably, think Gallop is akin to satan:

- salary cap issue in 2002
- gang rape handling in 2004 (Gallop was waving big sticks at the Bulldogs, you'll remember he threatened to take competition points off THEM if their FANS fucked up)
- 2 point penalty for 14 men on the field
- Strathfield sponsorship deal being knocked out due to conflict with Telstra

So if you speak to Bulldogs fans they'll tell you he's an absolute douche.

Even Manly fans might agree given the suspension of Stewart.

But generally I think most league fans think he's doing a fair job. Certainly better than his predecessors Moffat and Whittaker.

I don't like him at all tbh. Maybe he's handled recent problems ok, but IMO he is a puppet who is basically devoid of any ideas that will help the code move forward. He also needs to locate a pair IMO, because aside from some meddling into suspensions for bad behaviour, he's not really shown that he's willing to make any tough decisions in terms of number of teams, club locations etc.

Kudos for the Toyota Cup initiative. That's been a raging success. Big cross for the last TV deal though.

You are aware that Gallop himself is head of an organisation that is 50-50 split between progressive, business oriented News Limited, and dinosaur run, protect Sydney at all costs, ARL?

He has limited ability to action such things, and no right to voice his opinions on those matters publicly. He has to tow the company (ARL) line.

If he was given control of a truly powerful Australia-wide organisation, I think he's the man to do it.

the sooner they abolish the ARL, QRL, NSWRL and all other RLs and just let the NRL cover the NRL comp, rep footy and grass roots the better.

Not really that, it's just that almost every article I read on DT and CMail, with comments all bag gallop lol.
Pros, TYC i think is a huge sucess, but the tv deal and other things, then again, some say he basically has no real power, etc.

The TV deal isn't thaaaaaat bad. At least we get 4 days of footy out of it.

I personally think the NRL need to stop listening to when the clubs want to play aswell. But that's just me.
