David Gallop, Time for a new CEO but who?

The Rock said:
Yup but you'll see clubs like Manly and Parra die if they don't start getting rid of Monday night games and/or having more day games. Crowds have gone up steadily over the years which is a great sign even with the current TV deals but IMO it could be MUCH higher.

TV is the money. The harsh reality is TV is where we get the money and crowds don't go to games, as much as they crap on that they would if the times were different. Much like Rabbits supporters said they would never take their club for granted again, crowds may spike quickly but would soon subside in Sydney areas.

And furthermore, we can't play every team on a Friday or Sunday, somebody needs to take the Saturday or Monday games.

Assuming anyone knows where he is these days, do you think Scott Minto would do a good job?

i personally would never want to see an ex rugby league player as the ceo of the nrl

i think that gallop is doing a good job!

Gallop is just keeping the seat warm for Price anyway, who will then use the position as his stepping stone to acheive his rightful destiny as ruler of the known universe.

[icon_lol1. How did I not figure this out before? [icon_lol1.

He's doing ok. If he's still CEO when the new TV rights deal is being negotiated I hope he sticks to his guns and gets a better deal.

In regards to teams not being able to choose when they want to play Nth Qld should be the exception. There is no way they should be playing home games on a Monday night. With fans travelling from hundreds of kilometres away to see games they should be able to play thei majority of their home games on a Saturday night.

Attendances will be shit for Monday nights for just about every team. It's not about attendances, it's about Pay TV audiences.

There's 25 rounds with monday night football (they don't play monday night before the finals) and 16 teams, no team should have more than 2 monday night games at home, and every team should have 1.

Personally I think the Storm should dominate Monday night games. Bar public holiday weekends there is never any AFL on in Victoria on a Monday, so it would either give Melbournians a chance to attend a game when they'd otherwise be engaged in AFL following, or perhaps more realistically, drive up TV viewing figures, to at least arouse local interest in the Storm. Besides, it's not like they get big crowds anyway, so I think there would be less negatives associated with them playing on a Monday, compared to the Cowboys for instance.

True. And I mean if teams WANT to host Monday night football games, all power to them.

I know for a fact the Broncos would be happy not to have any, even though they attracted good crowds for their monday nighter in 2007.

Agreed, broncos are the only team which can match up with GayFL crowds.

I thought AFL pulled far bigger crowds than that?
