I think Oates will transition to the back row in 2017. Start off the bench in that role and slowly become an edge player which is where his future lies.

Happy with this! A lack of depth out wide really bit us on the ass at times this year. Injuries are inevitable and we will still see plenty of Opacic and Pearson next year. Welcome aboard Meady!

Like fordy and smokin joe said, imo I expect Oates to move to 2nd row to start on the bench in Glenn place. Then for glenn to play lock. And then Oates to take Thaiday's spot when he retires.

I'd rather we just went for MacDonald earlier, a lot younger with more upside IMO. But he's still a pretty good signing.

He was goal kicker for PNG in the World Cup, I seem to remember him missing a sitter which resulted in a team like Scotland or Italy beating PNG.
I like the signing, I think it will see Oates go to the bench or starting 2nd row.

Oates probably belongs in the second row due to his suspect hands and Queen Mary turning circle, but boy would we miss his hit ups out of our own end. There's been numerous games where he's turned the momentum in our favour when we've been under the pump.

What's the thinking behind signing David Mead? I think Wayne Bennett will move Corey Oates as a back rower next season and place Mead on the wing. Oates has been a bit shaky under the high ball

I think this would be my preferred back line also, but Wayne loves Opacic, it'll be him starting at left centre and Kahu on the right wing I believe.
