David Stagg - Why is he in our 1st side?

Like all these arguements nobody will know what he means to the team untill he's gone. As for Parker, IMO he is still carrying that knee injury. He just isn't moving like he used to and maybe that's why he's not kicking .

I like Stagg. Puts in 100% every week. Sure, he's playing out of position so he possibly doesn't have the imact we expect from a 5/8 or centre. You can't compare him to Locky or Hodges in those positions. His defence is valuable and IMO we're lucky we have him there for this utility role he is playing now. He may not have chosen to go into those positions - for all we know, he might hate it. But there's no way he would say no when WB tells him which position he's playing each week.

ala Shaun Berrigan, who IMO we sorely miss this year.

By far and away one of the most UNDER-rated Broncos ever. Backrow, hooker, half, 5/8th, centre. By their very nature utilities are jack of all trades, masters of none....(except Berro @ hooker, who would rape Ennis [icon_razz1 )

Stagg shouldn't be there at all, and sorry Jeb, Boud is no centre.

Watched Berro on SL yesterday playing hooker.Going good even though the team isn't.
Miss him.Every team needs a Berro.
I believe Stagg is a really important part of our team and be a bloody shame should he leave us.
Too slow at getting the ball away playing where he is but nobody can take away the fact this guy is a workhorse and tackles his heart out. Strong little bugger.

Stagg is a backrower, pure and simple. Play him there for 5 games in a row and then we can make an aseessment on him.

"Lockyer's passes were flat, fast and furious, that's his style. I reckon some of the players weren't used to his tempo and combinations for this match."

Gee this kind of passing is what makes Lockyer so damn good. On TV it seems obvious what Darren is about to do, but he does it so fast, he catches the opposition offguard. Problem is the rest of the team are also being caught offguard and need to wake up REAL fast.

Stagg is not an attacking player - end of story. I reckon WB has not choosen him on his attacking merits, but then you wonder why he is so often used as Mr Fixit, without much in the toolbox...

By the way Denan Kemp may be fast, but someone needs to put a rocket up his butt and tell him to sprint at holes! He is simply not big enough to bust tackles...

Truer words ... as I and many others have posted.

It's Bennett who plays him in the backs, can't blame Stagg.

And IMO we need to stop with this damn obsession about "safe options" and plugging holes in defence - not that that strategy has worked [eusa_doh .

Let's get players in who, even if they're young, can score some points- take some damn risks.

That's the problem, week after week he is forced to play out of position. Centre, 5/8th, he should be in the backrow and nowhere else. It is hard for anyone to play their best in a position not suited to them but Stagg has been solid.
