IMO Kevvie deserved another year, yes there was issues but having our main two key players out at such a crucial period was a huge problem, that said I have to agree the way Kevvie handled the media in the back half was embarrassing but overall I still think everything considered he deserved other season, our key players where injured in crucial parts of the season and he did get us to the GF the season prior it has to amount to something,.

every season prior under Kevvie we improved and let's be real we gave a rookie coach a wooden spoon team to build from and squad wise everything i have seen he is a top tier squad builder, how long has it honestly been since we had a Talent like Walsh, we atleast Talking back to Khunt in the mid 2000s.

and let's be real here Kevvie was crucial in getting Walsh back to us even if he left when he started.

Walsh is a player we can not **** with he has to be ours at all costs.

Squad build wise I don't think Kevvie has done a foot wrong outside obviously the Baker/hunt nonsense
(A completely legit complaint) but even still everyone here would agree we should make finals if we had more injury luck.

I don't understand the point of sacking him to replacing him with at best a comparable coach, sure I understand what Maguire has achieved outside club NRL but his actual record in NRL is laughable, plus he is the current NSW coach, Broncos are the Original QLD team in the league surely our culture means something because I feel it's insulting to have a current NSW coach take over, I can't be the only one, sure you might want success with this coach but QLD culture means something to me and surely for alot of you guys I can't be the only one here.

To just accept the current NSW coach kills our QLD soul, it mind sound stupid but this is real we are the Original QLD club and it feels insulting to take a NSW coach as our club coach from my perspective, for one our team song completely contradicts anything to do with NSW.

Yes. He is shit.

Nah Kevvie burnt the bridge at the review meeting .
Thought it wasn`t his fault and blamed others , then had a melt down that caused staff to walk out of the meeting . Not good enough on top of the last 3 months .

a) was he actually?

b) this is probably why Kev got punted, because why else would he not have re-signed yet? Price maybe, but it seems like after the season that was, players were cooling their heels until Kev's future was decided

I have to say, I'm impressed with Donuts for respecting the review and making the hard decision. It would have been a lot easier for him to give Kev his 6-10 weeks to turn the club around as everyone was recommending.

He will live or die by what happens next.

Full credit to the boss.

Just made the same post elsewhere, though in a far more succinct fashion.

Full props to Dave for putting his balls on the line as a leader. Very easily could’ve taken the easy option and given Kev 10 weeks to fail beyond all doubt. Would’ve kept the old boys quiet, would’ve made it seem like he had no other option, would’ve been on Kev’s shoulders that the 2025 season was a waste. Instead he was decisive and moved quick. Have to respect it - let’s see what his next steps are.

But maybe having already spoken to Madge and was confronted by Madge saying it was either now or never he was forced into telling Kev to walk. Otherwise he could have lost Madge to some other club by next season.

Whatever it was at least he's acted.

Either way it is what it is. Even bigger props to him if he was seeking potential better options when the season looked wobbly. A contingency plan

I think it will be interesting to see how this plays out now with DD.

I had a post earlier this week or last that I don't think Kevvie was Dave's choice for head coach and that he was giving him enough rope to hang himself.... and that's basically the way it has played out.

The only real move that DD has made in his tenure so far was bringing Ikin in as a head of football role... which I thought was a great move and the early indications were that it was working well.

That then got backflipped within 18 months... I don't think a CEO whose first appointment gets backflipped so spectacularly is going to be all that impressed with how it played out and he would have doubts about whether he can work with this coach.

The club then went on to make the GF, so he's had to bide his time, but now the review has come in and he has the ammo. The slate is now completely clean... coach gone, both assistants gone, no head of football, roster flexibility not there next year, but will be from 2026 onwards.

Appointment of the coach this time around will be his first major move and to me DD's tenure pretty much begins now.

Madge is a former storm assistant and for a while looked to be the Bellamy successor... I kind of felt that Madge might've been one of the best placed as a Bellamy successor with Ryles moved on and if Bellamy retired in the very near future.

So you have a former storm CEO, potentially getting a possible Bellamy successor coming in as coach... does he look to make more appointments and really reshape the broncos football department into the 21st century or does he just sit on his hands like so many Brisbane CEO's before him?

Does DD go back and try his Head of Football role to find his Ponissi?

Does DD have confidence in Scanlon and his vision on identifying and finding talent... and maybe it was Kevvie not wanting what Scanlon was presenting... or does he look to find his Paul Bunn?

Is DD capable of finding and filling either of those roles OR will he just palm it off to the next coach and we continue with the status quo?

I fucking love DD. Even the way he stood next to Kev during the exit interview. The guy has monster nuts.

Would love to see Ikin replace Lockyer on the board if that isn’t a conflict of interest with QRL. Dave and Ikin are a dream team
