A whole NRL round played at 3 grounds:
Eden Park (Auckland) 2 games on Friday
Suncorp Stadium 3 games on Saturday
ANZ Stadium 3 games on Sunday

With the right choice of games, it would guarantee big attendances, as long as they don't schedule blockbusters which attract the public by themselves, such as a Broncos - Storm or Broncos - Dragons.

ANZ and City-Country stand alone weekend as well as Origin on Mondays from 2013...

Thoughts?

Silly. I'm not a fan of double headers and I don't think the public really are either.

yep, it rather cut my eye out then watch the Titans play the bulldogs. Being stuck at Suncorp with there fans would be an experience I would not want to have.

3 games is too much for me. Love my league, but geeze that's a long time sitting in the one spot.

Haters,

On the Friday night, two games will be played at Eden Park, the super stadium in Auckland that holds a crowd of 55,000.

On the Saturday afternoon and evening, a triple-header will be played at Suncorp in Brisbane involving the Broncos, Titans and North Queensland Cowboys.

And on the Sunday afternoon and evening, ANZ Stadium will stage a triple-header involving six traditional Sydney rivals.

The gate takings from the estimated combined crowds of 180,000 will be split evenly among the 16 clubs. All the matches will be shown live on both Nine and Fox Sports.

I'm sporting an erection thinking about it, EVERY game that weekend live... No delayed sunday game! No delayed second game friday.

Leaving the kids and missus at home heading to the triple header and having a blast.

Three games? That's at least 6 hours at Suncorp. Bet the food vendors are rubbing their hands with glee. I'd get a pass out at some point just to head into town.

Thats why i hope the Titans play second.

Food break in town

Even then I doubt I'd bother going back in. Honestly, I was pumped for the double header the first year, and maybe it's because the Broncos lost, but I left early in the Titans-Bulldogs game because it was dead boring, held no interest.

Ditto 2010.

Didn't even bother getting a ticket 2011.

All well and good if it's a Broncos home game. I'll go along. But I'll probably leave at fulltime of the Broncos game.

Just like Coxy, personally I'd no doubt just leave after the Broncos game, like I usually do when I go to a double-header. I am just not interested enough in a non-Broncos game to justify the uncomfortablness of the seating and the expense of the food/drink etc

And the boganness of the opposition fans. I can tolerate Bronco fan boganness, but Titan, Bulldog, Cowboy boganness is just dreadful.

That's the intention, Rock. No doubt over the 3 games there will be 52000 people who attend Suncorp, but I guarantee there won't be 52000 at kick off of the first game and 52000 at full time of the 3rd game.

won't the end result be less people going to the footy and more people watching it on TV?? Cowboys generally do ok with crowds on Saturday night games. Broncos are going fine with crowds. Titans LOLZ but they should have better crowds with better results. I don't see the point. The odd double header is enough.

Yeah but a Broncos vs Storm game would nearly be sell outs anyway if it wasn't raped by rep footy.

I would arrive midway thru 2nd half of cows game and leave early in tits game.

Maybe doesn't help tee and flutterby left after the broncos game. Sitting alone was lame

The problem I would have with triple headers or even double headers is who gets the good seats? Just say ANZ stadium double header has Bulldogs vs Manly and Souths vs Panthers. Which home team season ticket holders get the right to their seats? Would we have to pay extras to get our seats or just to get Reserved GA along the side lines? Would we get in for free to GA areas with the season tickets?

While it might be good for crowd figures and gate takings, IMO it could be a big FU to season ticket holders.

Depends who is the home team. At the double headers up here when the Broncos are the home team we season ticket holders get to sit in our normal seats. This year it was an away game and we got the option of purchasing tickets for our normal seats before they went on sale to the public.
