I'm one of the people who care HOW my team wins, not just that they win - unless it's origin lol. I wouldn't have been happy with the broncos winning like the dragons did today.

And yet you love the Storm - one of the most clinical and boring (albeit successful) teams ever to grace a footy field

Lol you could make a highlight reel of the best and most exciting plays of the last 4 years and it would basically be all Melbourne with a bit of parramatta thrown in.

The storm are/were clinical, but they always had their foot on the attacking throttle and weren't afraid to use it. Slater, cronk, inglis, folau and smith running the show means they're usually anything but boring.

They were clinical where it counted - defense and players knowing and doing their job. With ball in hand though, they're one of the most exciting teams. There's a difference between clinical and boring. The broncos of 2000 were clinical, yet could never be called boring.

2008 was a fantastic season.

Some of the most entertaining footy we've played. Karmichael Hunt played a big part in that as well. What a player he was. He and Lockyer perfected that second man play. I reckon the opposition could see it coming, but they never had any way of stopping it.

Peter Wallace was actually a pretty good halfback that year. :P

Re: Dragons coach Wayne Bennett a chance to go to Broncos or

How teams win in any year you pick is dictated by the rules(lol) the current refs are asked to enforce.

If the admin changes the interpretations then the games flow is changed. We've had unlimited interchange slow play the balls fast play the balls penalties galore no penalties etc etc.

Winning under the rules is more important than the spectacle. The type of spectacle we have is largely down to the admins interpretation and the coachs ability to adapt his teams style to suit.

the success of the second man play had an awful lot to do with the talent of one K. Hunt.

Yep. Such a brilliantly talented player. Shame he left.

He was one talented K. Hunt. It's a shame he died...

in existence to me, as AFL people are all dead to me. RIP Izzy

I think Hoffman will be able to get that play nailed very soon if they decide they want to continue it. remember it took K.Hunt several years to master it

Yes you did.

Re: Dragons coach Wayne Bennett a chance to go to Broncos or

May not be much, but when he was giving his speech for winning the Clive Churchill Medal, Darius Boyd said "I've enjoyed my time here."

Isn't that something you say when you're leaving? [icon_shady

yeah i thought so too

Well now they've won a premiership they get the loss of players due to the salary cap that comes with success. Smith is a big loss, and with gasnier jumping up to mega dollars next year they're gonna have to shed some more players.

having said that, it is doubtful we would have the cap room to sign a premiership winner, i recall Cluuen saying something like we had 100k to spend (around the time we signed Inglis), we couldn't sign any player from the Dragons for that.

Re: Dragons coach Wayne Bennett a chance to go to Broncos or

oh i dont think we'll be signing boyd.

i was just saying that now they pay the price of success.
