Foden isn't quite the right comparison given he covers a number of positions and was initially behind Sane and Sterling, both of whom have already left the club.

No. I don't think Pep wanted him. I think those he does like are better to stay and bide there time for a year or two before potentially leaving or becoming part of the best 11. Not sure they wanted to play Rodri as much as they did but Phillips didn't work out.

I'd be concerned a team who are notorious for not creating chances and getting shots off carved the united defence open at will

Thing thats giving me a little hope this season might not turn out so badly is our midfield 3 of LEmina, Nunes and Gomes. We absolutley bossed the United midfield. Joao Gomes is a a seriously talented player. We held him back a little to let him bed in last season, this season, i think he is going to be a star.

No panic necessary but you shouldn't be getting outplayed at Old Trafford by Wolves.

Maybe, to be fair I don't think there are many 18yo's that will regularly start for a Pep team. Foden is a generational talent and even he had to wait over 3 seasons before he played consistently for Pep. I just don't think there's many young footballers who have the patience or quality to do that and there was no world where they were selling Foden.

In any case it's City's model to sell off these young kids, nearly all of them go with buy-back clauses for decent fees. I don't think its necessarily because Pep doesn't want them but more so because they would rather not block their development when they've got clear world class options ahead of them and they know they can buy them back if needed - Real Madrid do the same thing regularly.

We played quite well after the opening 15 minutes, where we looked totally rattled.

Szoboszlai looks the real deal.

We dont look to have improved either Our multi billionaire owners have turned off the tap, no signings and a clown manager. We are in trouble. Even yesterday we had 4 or 5 clear cut chances and missed every one. Same against United and its hurting us. Brighton were just clinical. I cant recall our keeper being tested really, yet they scored 4 goals. They look an excellent side.

United look very poor. If they dont improve a lot they wont even finish top 6. Martinez has looked terrible in the first 2 games and their midfield looks pedestrian. Mount is a terrible signing imo.

Liverpool also i think look vunerable but they at least have plenty of firepower.

Citeh, even without Stones, Silva and De Bruyne just dominated a good newcastle team. If they were sharper in front of goal, we would have been talking 3 or 4 if not more.

United look leggy and unbalanced. Midfield balance is a mess and clearly the big US pre season trip did absolutely nothing to improve on match fitness and sharpness because the whole team has been gassed after 45 in both games.

Deserved to lose both. No difference to the start of last season.

Midfield needs a serious looking at. That 3 absolutely does not work together. And if I have to see Rashford through the middle one more time I'll fucking break my tv.

It did look ,very, very harsh but raising your leg and making contact is going to get you into trouble. If he didnt have his studs up i dont reckon he would have had any dramas.

This 4-1-4-1 formation is not working. Our midfield is suffering as a result. Ten Hag needs to make a change and make the call whether he wants Mount or Bruno playing that playmaking role up front, can't have both. We could really do with another defensive midfielder while this transfer window is still open. Have them paired up with Cas.

Had to go in to HT leading with the chances missed, 100%. First half United actually played well. Should have had a penalty too, but hey...

As soon as they scored heads all dropped.

I completely expect panic transfer(s) now. Same thing happened after the 2 games at the start of last season.
