I don't *want* to see Souths go, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Some of the best, most dedicated fans in the competition, coupled with an amazing history and place in the game.

By the same token, I don't want clubs struggling for success on and off the field that can't draw decent crowds either. It's such a freakin' hard situation, and there's no way that Souths are the only club in the same situation - just look at the Sharks, for instance.

I know it'll never happen, but a move to Gosford and modifying the name to simply Souths Rabbitohs would be awesome imo.

Exactly Mick, a change is what's needed.

There are too many Sydney clubs. If the public of Sydney are spread too thin, we either need to cut the number of teams in the comp, or relocate a club to where it WILL get home town support. Which teams should be selected as candidtates for a move or for obliteration? If something's not broken you don't fix it. Therefore successful Syndey clubs should not have to move. Clubs that are struggling for a win on the field and struggling for stability off it, should be asked to relocate or perish, for the club's own good and the good of the sport.

Move Souths to Gosford. They will gain a massive area to recruit from. Fans will start turning up to their games, at the stadium which is already built. We will have one less game to look at in a completely empty stadium, which as we know is an utter embarrassment.

The emotion has to be taken out of this issue. I appreciate whatever Souths fans there are being pissed off that their club has been singled out, but if I was a supporter of a club in this situation I would love there to be an option like this sitting on the table (as it has been from the NRL with a $3M sweetener thrown in I believe) to give my struggling club a fresh start, a new tradition to build that I could be a part of, a way forward.

I consider the Storm more of a QLD team than the Titans. I mean, the Tits are made up of mostly NSW players (with a few exceptions of course), where as the Storm dominated by QLD players that have come through the QLD cup competition.

What I reckon we should do, is cut the Warriors, they can play Bartercard Cup (apolgies, I don't know if it's still called that). Then we take Storm, Titans, Cowboys and Broncos; they all leave the NRL and start playing QRL.

NSW can have the NRL. Then RL will be strong again, like the glory days of Souths huh?

I hate relying on Wikipedia but they give an average of 15,750 for regular season games. Wonder what that figure would be like with the 34,000 from the Broncos.

I hear what you are saying but what are the NZ Warriors average homw crowds?? I highly doubt they get over 12000. The Storm are going ok there crowds can only improve. A lil bit of patience would go along way.

Storm pulled 20,000 against the Warriors at the Dome in round 1. They had 30,000 for the final against the Eels last year. In 2007 averages Warriors are only 1,000 or so ahead of the Storm.

They're hamstrung with a crappy stadium but they will have a new one from next year. Should be interesting to see if their crowds improve then.

As I understand it, at least NZ RL does have a decent junior RL base.

I don't think the Storm will ever develop many local juniors given the sheer size of AFL in Victoria. The exceptional kids that go into the RL system here and in NSW will go to AFL down there.

However despite that I still think the Storm need to be in the NRL. They pulled some ok ratings for the Test match
so there is a fair bit of support there. As you say the marketing play means the NRL will be able to attract better advertising and sponsorship revenue by having a team down there. The Storm are good for the NRL but they do need to start balancing the books cause I know they are in the red a fair bit.

Focusing on NSW and QLD will just limit the NRL in the future. They need to develop new markets.
