(Ex-) Cronulla players admitted drug cheats!

I checked that years WADA list. They were certainly banned.

I just wish my fellow posters would come out and admit two things. Firstly, they are not sure of any of the facts in the case other than that which is self evident, that being the players 'admitting' to some unspecified offence in preference to being banned from their trade for two years ( and still being labelled a drug cheat ,only without evidence !)

Secondly, that they are not bloody perfect themselves.

Time ladies and gents, time. Last drinks, go home ,nothing to see here.....

EDIT: Inappropriate post.

As for it being legal to be fired for not taking a drug. You bet your ass it is.

Call the union, you'll be striking before the day is out.

I'm not even allowed to give the guys a paracetamol when they ask for it, but I can fire them for not taking a drug, yeah... sounds legit! :laugh:

If you want a quality reply than offer a quality post. Saying nobody is perfect is a defence for nothing, yet you are clearly trying to make it a factor.

And your last sentence is a massive pile of shit. Not abusive, just fact.

Oh gawd... talk about a misinterpretation and tangent.

Disobeying an illegal direction, would not be grounds for dismissal.

Disobeying a lawful direction, would be grounds for dismissal.

Agreed?

A lawful direction from a football club to its players is likely to be different to what most people do day to day.

A lawful direction from a coach might include:
1. Turning up to training, games, functions on time
2. Doing certain drills at training
3. Obeying a code of conduct
4. Consenting to receiving treatment from staff
5. Complying with team policies on alcholol use;

or, within the realms of reality:

6. Complying with a strict diet;
7. Gain weight, lose body fat (which circumstantial might be unlawful in an office environment);
8. Take medical treatment administered by nutrionists, doctors or other staff from time to time.
9. Take supplements, powders, pills and potions to improve performance.

This whole thing has been a joke from day one.

From what I read some of the drugs mentioned in connection with Cronulla were on the banned list equally some mentioned were not. I still have not seen or heard of any evidence yet that positively proves the players took some banned drugs. I have however seen a forced admission ( under duress mind you ) that the players did something wrong, nothing specific as far as I know and no specific banned drug. What does it matter now though ? it's been dealt with and irrespective of how one feels about the punishment the only thing left is to decide...can you move on or are you going to dwell in the past ? For your own personal sake I hope you get over it Nashy because by dropping the game over what you see as principle will only serve to deprive you of a game you obviously love and prove nothing to the rest of the world who will simply be apathetic.

Also, could you do something about the silly title of this thread ? Show cause without the 'of'.

And I can only just imagine the likes of Gallen, Wade Graham and Flanagan being very supportive of a dissenting young voice

:rolleyes:

"Just take your fucking supplements mate. You think we'd all cheat?"
Yeah, I get the peer pressure argument, and yeah I certainly can see some of the younger guys caving under it, but not people like Gallen, J Smith, Graham, etc...

No matter how much some people try to waive it off with a shrug, because they supposedly don't know the facts, and are making assumptions based on the "punishment" handed over, I'm not buying it.

Want a fact?
They took a guilty plea to taking illegal substances, and who in their right mind would take such a deal, essentially branding them for life, if they didn't have anything to hide?

I call bullshit. There is no way that can ever be a lawful direction, as that is strictly against WADA/ASADA rules.

You can not get dismissed/have your contract torn up for refusing to take a supplement. That's outrageous.

A judge would probably fine the Sharks for making him read such a BS lawsuit.

Fuckin can't stand people who think they know workplaces laws and don't, but still speak as if they are speaking fact. It's way too common in business and general public.

As a professional football player (and where the supplement is legal) I think that would be a reasonably lawful direction.

You have to read the rest of my point in context but this aspect of it has kind of grown legs of its own.

PS how the **** did I end up playing devils advocate for Sharks drug cheats lol

I am directing you, as your employer, to take this.

It will be a breach of your employment contract not to take this.

That's rubbish, players are all different. Some players like shakes and powders some don't, some like massage and some don't. You don't get your contract torn up because of that.

Thought I would just say how pathetic the press is trying to denigrate the Sharks even further because they dared to have a foes beers at a bar that had a couple of topless waitresses....it was mad Monday after all and they are just doing what a million guys a week do. ***** in the press......if it wasn't for some scumbag following them around nobody would ever have known...or cared.
