PLAYER Ezra Mam

So JAC and Mitchell are allowed to have the All-stars game counted towards their suspensions ... Mam is not.

According the Meyn / Badel article, "Mam qualifies for All Stars selection with his Indigenous heritage, but given he has not played in the pre-season fixture before, the NRL has indicated it will not count the exhibition match as part of his ban."

although in the same article they say that "Walsh has previously had the All Stars game counted as part of a suspension when he was with the Warriors in 2022. Walsh is eligible for the Indigenous and Maori All Stars teams but has never featured in the contest."

Did I see somewhere that Mam has been selected for it twice, but hasn't been able to play due to injuries or something 🤔

And the fine ?
I understood he got 2 fines of $850 . One for drugs and another for bad driving. But we only see $850 quoted ?
Is that right ?

The media seem to be only quoting the fine he got from the courts ... I'm pretty sure the other was a regular traffic fine issued by the police

I still haven't seen where Ezra’s overall punishment fits within other incidents that the integrity unit have dealt with.

Ezra has been fined $120k total... where does that rank for fines they've dished out... was Pearce like $80k and they said that was the highest at the time??

And then suspended 9 weeks ... was Pearce 8 and that was also largest at the time??

Also not talking about judicial charges so Hoppa copping 20 weeks or whatever for a flying elbow isn't applicable... neither would WADA and ASADA suspensions for doping

With Origin Bellew ask the selectors is the player in the mix. If they say no, they don't count it.

Was future English international Radley genuinely in the mix for origin? No need to answer.

Clearly the selectors said yes, they also said yes to Papallii and Chrichton that series.

With Radley Bellew only counted game one too and not game two because he said not sure you'll get picked for game two.

I’m fine with Mam serving his full suspension and not getting a discount for the All Stars match, but let’s not pretend this isn’t complete bullshit. Just a month ago, every newspaper was screaming about how he definitely wouldn’t be able to use the All Stars game to reduce his ban, and the trolls on Facebook, Instagram, and everywhere else were losing their minds—calling the Broncos the biggest cheats in the NRL for even suggesting he could get a week off. And now, suddenly, the Rabbitohs and Eels get their players back early? The double standards are absolutely ridiculous.

Did the broncos even enquire or did a journo just ask the NRL and then they worded it like the broncos asked the NRL?

I didn't read the article when it came out, but the titles are below and at first glance it makes it look like broncos enquired, but it's more likely a journo ringing around to see if 'loopholes' would be upheld or not.

The first one is related to Ezra being able to play Qcup whilst he's suspended... not sure why that's a loophole to anything other than "could Ezra play in a lower league whilst being suspended"... the answer being they're never allowed to play whilst suspended... so would the broncos even asked about this knowing the answer or has a journo just asked the NRL a question they already know the answer to so they can write a story.

And then of course the Sydney circle jerk takes hold and makes out as if Broncos are running around trying to get his suspension downgraded and various things.

tbh considering the media at the time I doubt they formally asked but who knows. Either way they have the right to ask if it has been used previously by other teams. I'd rather they be allowed to play rep games depending on the indiscretion and all weeks be games sat out during the NRL season.
