Haven't had one of these threads for a while.

So, which commentators do you prefer listening to and why?

I have a feeling everyone will say Sterlo, he is awesome. Knows the game inside out, and his analysis of certain plays, etc is always spot on.

I have to admit, i don't mind Fatty. He's not there as some tactical genius, but more as a passionate bloke who loves to watch the footy. Gotta admire him during Origin where he is completely biased towards Queensland. [icon_lol1.

Don't mind Phil Gould either. Very insightful in his commentary. Though I do get sick of hearing 'look at all those Broncos huddled up, you could throw a handkerchief over them!' all the time.

Re: Favourite Commentator

Gould gives me someone to lash out at when the Broncos arnt playing so well. I seem to blame him lol.

Sterlo is awesome and i could easily listern to a game with only him.

Love Foxsports Active games thou, Always select "Ref" on those.

Re: Favourite Commentator

The easier thread would probably be "Least Favourite Commentator" but anyway... [icon_lol1.

I probably prefer the Fox commentary team over Nine - I'd certainly take Warren Smith over Ray Warren any day.

But I quite like Gary Belcher actually - he's obviously knowledgable about the game when he does the colour commentary and he has quite a good sense of humour on the Monday Night Football panel.

Can't stand Ray Warren especially, but add Phil Gould, Mark Braybrook, Andy Raymond, pretty much all of them except Sterlo, Badge and Warren Smith to that list. Those 3 are fine.

I agree with Warren Smith love.

Far better commentator than Rabs.

I'm in the minority but i love Rabs. He loves his footy, his excitement is infectious and genuine, and he's always there to give Gus some stick when ol' busted couch gets carried away.

Oh he definitely loves the game, there's no doubt about that. I just wish he actually knew something about it!

Calling players by their right name would be a good start for Rabs too...

Doesn't get quite as excited when the team he isn't backing scores though.

Warren Ryan by lightyears followed by (in no particular order) Sterlo, Rabs, Gerry Collins and Andy Raymond. David Morrow is good but he exaggerates and whinges too much imho.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Hammo, he's a genius.

It's not just that though. It's how long he goes on whinging about something, when he's got the rule completely wrong. Sterlo usually eventually steps in and advises him of the correct rule to stop him embarassing himself any further. Anyone who has followed and commentated on the game as long as Rabs has, should at least know the rules. And I'm not talking about obscure rules that some people mightn't know about, I'm talking about the stuff that everyone knows.

I think Sterlo is the best for an unbiased perspective, knowledge wise Gould is pretty switched on (even if he repeats himself a shitload).

Chris Bomber Bombalas was a champ. Broncos to the core hahah

Na he's fine. You've got people like Gould and Sterlo to discuss in finer detail the events in a game, and Voss and Rabs to give the play-by-play so that viewers don't hear silence. Gus talking for the duration that those two do would be unbearabley dull.
