My favourites are either Sterlo or Fatty (especially during Origin time.)

Rabs, Sterlo Gus, Voss tbh I like all the CH9 commentary team except for A.Johns.

I love Gus and I really like Warren Ryan. But I think the best footy commentator going around is Warren Boland commentating Q-Cup (and sometimes on ABC radio for NRL games) - I am surprised he hasn't had the call up from Nine or Fox to commentating on NRL

Vossy!!!!!! Warren Ryan is tops, as is Warren Smith - I really hate sterlo, he is so pro nsw (sorry scotty but I find him the most biased), in recent times Gould has picked his act up a heap

I don't mind Rabs. Sure he gets the players' name wrong, but he really gets into it. Sterlo also gets my vote.

Nothing beats the Channel 9 commentary team of Rabs, Sterlo and Gould.
You've got the voice, the analyst and the colour commentator. Perfectly balanced.
The rest of the 9 team is 'ok'. Vossy knows his stuff but is as interesting as a plank of wood, Fatty is comical but doesn't know Peter Wallace from Kevin Walters, a robot could do both Johns' and Lewis' job on commentary.
I find the Fox commentators self rightous and annoying.
I rarely find myself agreeing with Smith who spends far too much time ripping into referees or players. Always seem to tear the game down rather than speak it up. Daley never has anything interesting to add. Alexander seems to go one better and provides the coverage with generally poor or wrong opinions. Out of all the main commentators, Belcher is the only one I can stand.
Then the side one's you have...
Braybrook - Worst commentator bar none. Always biased, always bashing the referees and always overexagerates.
Tallis - Love the bloke, I wish I could understand him on commentary.
Junior - Eh, neither here nor there.
Raymond - Voice annoys me and far too many Americanisms. Aside from that, he doesn't come accross to me like a total wank stain.
Freeman - Comical in his own ineptitude. He's like the Mario Fenech of Fox.
New Zealand commentators - All biast and their voices generally lead me to tune out.
Then ABC...can't stand most of them. Hamilton and Morrow always lead me astray with their biast commentating. For Hamilton if it's a Newcastle game, you'd barely know who the opposition was because he only talks about the Newcastle players. (Deadset I caught him one time talking about the defensive set of Newcastle, where players were positioning in defence and the kinds of tackles they were making...was odd to say the least). Same goes with Morrow and the Dragons, has a good voice for commentary but deadset he's an arrogant wanker.
Both of them love to sink the boot into the Broncos. Hate listening to a Broncos game with them, would barely know who's playing well unless it was Lockyer. Nobody else seems to rate a mention and any time we score you'd swear the Wok had farted given their utter contempt.
The worst example for mine was listening to them commentate a game between the Broncos and the Roosters in Round 2 of 2008 where Karmichael hit Anasta high with a shoulder. Now all of us here know Anasta slipped into it and it wasn't really a bad incident.
Unfortunately, the ABC commentary thought differently.
From memory it went something like this...
"Anasta with the ball decides to run it, steps and..."
"Oh no what was that..."
"HUNT WITH THE WORST SHOULDER CHARGE I HAVE EVER SEEN! THIS IS LES BOYD ON BROHMAN STUFF! OHHH WHAT A TERRIBLE SHOT BY KARMICHAEL!!! HE'S GOING TO GET 6 MONTHS ON THE SIDELINES FOR THAT!

"SMILE WHILE YOU CAN HUNT! IT'S GOING TO BE AN AWFUL LONG STINT IN THE SIDELINES FOR YOU. WHAT A DISPICIBLE ACT! HE SHOULD BE SENT HERE. JUST A PENALTY?! AWWWW REFEREE YOU'RE JOKING!

I was away camping when this happened and up to this point I thought Morrow was the best commentator out there.
He went on and on and on and on about it. Warren Ryan to his detriment was agreeing with him but was somewhat forced to given Morrow's vehemence. I thought it must have been pretty bad. When I got back and watched the replay I could not fkn believe it. It was completely accidental and it was pretty much a legal shot anyway. I lost a lot of respect for Morrow after that and have not forgotten it.

I will say I love his enthusiasm but his league knowledge is quite ridiculous for someone who has been calling the game for god knows how long. Sometimes it is clear he is saying stuff for the sake of commentary discussion etc. He says stuff that non-league followers would say sometimes and I find it very annoying.
Warren Smith is OK but he reaches a certain level and thats it. Very vanilla.
Sterlo is alright but no way can he be a lead caller and neither can GUS.
Voss has become an idiot over the past few years due to channel 9 but I have to say him calling with Gus and Sterlo on the side for sunday games would be my preference.
Fatty is awesome for SOO.

My fave is vossy.
I also love the kiwis in a comical way. I love the way the play by play commentator says the wierdest shit. like he always takes a guess at what the players or referee are saying. I remember one particular exchange where Monty Betham was squaring up to a cowboys player (ill say carl webb)
"Carl Webb says ill take you and Betham says Im not backing down and the ref says cool it, COOL IT NOW!"

When Roy and HG did the commentary for the footy, they were my fave. Any idea if they would still do it now that they'e with Triple M?
On the telly, I'd have to say Vossy. He's very exciteable and not over the top like Rabs, and adds a bit of comedy in there from time to time as well. He's got the right mix of experience to make opinions and I think he's just a pleasure to listen to. However, for the big games, I like the pizazz of the gang.

Watching the Broncos vs Titans final from last year with the Fox sports commentary. These blokes really don't like the Broncos.
