Favourite Non-Memorable Broncos Moments

- Te'o scoring one of the best tries in Broncos history against the Panthers in 09. Was sort of the start of our late season run and was one of those ones that was so good, the refs just gave it although Te'o foot came awfully close to the sideline.

I had a close look at that.

He just grounded the ball in time. There was less than a second in it, but the ball just touched the ground before he put his foot on the line.

I thought they bombed it by not taking it further in field. I thought the Panthers player was going to push him out for sure..

And because it was a try...

Folau's first try against Storm, and it was one of his trademark tries. Flies up, and the opposite winger was no chance of stopping him.

Kemp's try against the Tigers in Round 8, 2008. Shows his soccer skills by stopping the ball with his foot, kicks it in goal and wins the race to the ball.

Chris Walker appealing for a voluntary tackle penalty and just stealing the ball from the other guy when it wasn't given.

Good work Porthy. Awesome call from the refs and just glad they read the situation.

Moar

- Stuart Kelly & Gorden Tallis (?) getting in each other's way on the try line in our big return game to Suncorp. Knights basically dominated from that point on and it was so shit. One of those regular season losses that burned way more than it should have.

- Crashing Newcastle's farewell party to Joey. Don't think I ever saw this one since it was a delayed Sunday evening game on 9 and listened to it on the radio but in a year with so many downs, it was so sweet to score this victory.

- Brett Seymour chipping for Locky who kicked ahead for McGuire to score the match-winner against Cronulla. Was far from convincing but still one of the coolest match winning plays we've produced.

- Jharal's No Try in the last regular season game at Suncorp in 2011. Was just about the only highlight of an otherwise boring afternoon of footy where an understrength Manly just made life as difficult as possible and the refs take it back for a 50/50 call.

- Hodges' incredible quick-tap play against the Storm in 07 at Suncorp. I remember this going about 80m before they were just brought down short. Memory is pretty foggy and all I remember was us being out of form and the refs doing their best to try and make ammends for the grand final. They'd come up with a similar effort in Melbourne.

- Tallis snapping Minichiello with a great one on one tackle at a time where Mini would usually beat at least one defender. Was sweet.

- Lagi Setu's hit on Sika Manu in Melbourne back in 09. Just about the only highlight to take out of that game for Brisbane.

- Craig Frawley's try-saver on Matt Bowen in 04 at Dairy Farmers. Saved us the game.

- Josh McGuire chip-kicking to Matt Gillett to score against Manly in 2012. The most emotional I've seen Hook in the coaches box - looked like a proud dad.

- Alex Glenn's cm before the dead ball try against the Sharks in 2011. Ridiculous.

- Folau's 'try' against the Roosters which put us infront after trailing by 20+. Probably the worst call to ever go our way and boy, Brandy just about popped a blood vessel. It sucked when they scored again...

- Steve Michaels try in the corner against Parra in 06. Limited space and made it look pretty easy.

- Taylor's pick-up of Clifford Manua's offload in 07 against the Dogs and I think we scored? Taylor was in awesome form around this time, was so good to see.

- Tallis stripping the ball from Cusack before handing it off to Tate to score in the dying seconds against Souths. Ridiculous, I remember being moments away from kicking the cat to being in absolute raptures and then sort of embarrassed since it was just Souths. Having watched the replay...I feel so sorry for Souths but **** yeah, Gordie!!!

- And of course...Tesesa Lavea missing a fairly easy penalty goal to end the Brisbane v Melbourne game in a draw. I used to remember this game as my first but I can't have because I remember the Knights and Panthers game before it. That draw though was what got me into the game - to ride all those highs and lows - to go from cursing a player out to being on their side was amazing. Nothing else on TV registered with me like Rugby League did and when that kicked missed I was on cloud 9. That was an incredible game too - Brisbane were way down on troops and STILL managed to hold the defending premiers to a draw.

Kevvy Walters running around in a complete circle while waiting for Lockyer to catch up after a break against Wigan in 1997.

Tallis smashing Terry O'Connor in the same game and getting 10 in the bin.

Crying with laughter at Chris Walker dropping the ball
over the line against the Panthers.

Hodges one handed pass to Lockyer in 2006 for a 60 metre Lockyer try (people forget how quick he was).

Ennis threatening to kick Riddell arse against the Eels in 2006.

Webcke's juggling effort (playing second row) for his first try in first grade.

Seeing Petro starting in reserve grade.

Choc Mundine's picture on the front of 'bronco' magazine when he signed.

Webcke bowling over Scott Hill on his last hit up.

Getting beaten at the opening of ANZ stadium in 1993 (by the flipping Eels).

The bloke who sold 'big league' as you got to the second level of ANZ stadium.

The draw with the cowboys in 1997.

Willie Carne.

Alfie inventing the cross kick bomb to take advantage of Carne's speed.

Putting 50 plus on a Canberra team featuring Daley, Clyde, Stuart etc....

Leon "lightening" Bott.

Tallis' try in first game against St George.

Thorn's try from 40 out against Parra would have done any centre proud.

Pearl's try against the cowboys in 1997 at ANZ.

remember nearly crying when Hancock scored in the 1997 gf. He deserved that because he stayed when Cann and Carne both left.

Carne missing a conversion from right in front against the Sharks in 1996...barely got off the ground.

Gee's 40/20 against Manly and his costing us a game against the Roosters because he failed to place the ball on the ground for a 20 metre tap.....

Gould talking up how determined Johns looked for the finals game against the broncos in 2006 lines up for a penalty right in front and misses it.

Wayne Bennett's reaction to Scott Minto scoring the winner in our first ever golden point game against Melbourne. First (and probably only) time I've seen him dhow any emotion whatsoever. He was also sitting on the sideline at the time (rare for him)

Gee's 40/20

Smashing the Knights 71-6 at Lang Park (sorry Suncorp  )

Lockyer's Field goal to beat the Titans that hit both uprights.

Lockyer's kick after the siren for Kemp to score after the siren against the Eels (from memory Kemp scored 4 tries that day) but we should have had the game won well before that, but we let the Eels back into it.

-------

And on a negative note. Playing the Titans and Hodges does a dangerous throw on Rogers (I think it was), but Rogers getting a pass away.... The play then went on for the next 5 tackles and 80m. The Titans didn't score so the ref takes the play back 80m to penalize Hodges for the tackle, claiming he was playing advantage. WTF.

Fat Corey Parker's bald head.

In 2002 at home against the Raiders when Corey Parker went up to catch a bomb and landed flush on his bald head. Was lucky to walk away from that one.

The last two rounds of 2003. It was depressing enough that we had lost 7 of our 8 previous games, but then we lost to Parramatta at home late in the game courtesy of two field goals. Then the following week at home in round 26, Lockyer kicked a late field goal and it looked like we would finally win a game... then Tim Mander gave the Dragons a penalty and Riddell kicked it over from 40m out on the sideline after the siren.

When Alfie got sinbinned by Matt Cecchin in 2002 for calling him an "expletive dumbo". Broncos flogged the pants off the Cowboys that day.

He actually did a head feint that Tim Cahill would be proud of to beat his outside man. Brilliant.

Kempy :-(

My brother has always had a passing interest in rugby league/the Broncos, but has been getting into it a lot more over the past 3 or 4 seasons. Watches each Friday night now, calls me to discuss etc etc.

He was doing a bit of a youtube history lesson after last week's finals loss, watching some epic Broncos highlights.

Decided to watch the 2008 semi against the Storm...

He texted me 3/4 of the way through the replay saying "Man, we were unreal in 2008. This game against the Storm, we are smashing them, how did we not win a premiership this year?"

He called me later to describe the game the Broncos equivalent to the "Red Wedding" in Game of Thrones:violin:

I noticed that game was on Fox the other night. At first I was thinking great a broncos game. But 10 seconds later I realised what game it was and said **** that I can't watch this game ever again.
