Favourite Player to watch right now!

Thurston has actually had decent playmaking guys around him like Bowen, Payne and Watts and some of the 5/8ths are not terrible players Rovelli has shown in the past he is an ok NRL halves option. Problem is I think as Coxy said these guys find it hard to predict what Thurston will do he is brilliant but is erratic as well.

I use the word instinctive, rather than erratic. He spots something and acts on it. That's why his show and go works, he can pick in a microsecond when a defender is susceptible to it.

Similarly, he might spot a defender 2 wide that's flat footed or not looking at the forward running short, Thurston will hit that forward who is not expecting it and thus has trouble hanging onto the ball. Just as an example. I know what people will say, you should always expect the ball.

In similar situations though, even when a player is running a decoy for Locky, they are still well and truly expecting the pass and so if Locky does decide to go flat instead of deep, it works.

I think Johns had a better footy brain than Lockyer does, that is not to bag Lockyer they are the smartest two footy players I have ever seen but some of the things Johns could see and do tactically on a field are unmatchable.

That doesn't surprise me, you Hayne and Johns lover.

Oh look at your avatar, Knights jersey! :P
Oh the Barca insult... [icon_ee

But I'm with you regarding Locky. He sees and executes well ahead of the rest, while his ability to react to a sudden oportunity is on par with Thurston IMO.

Thurston has been known to implode when things aren't going his way.

Lockyer is much calmer, and that helps him with his play structures. As others have said, Thurston is more instictive than he is intelligent on the footy field.

Not that there is nothing wrong with instincts, of course.

Absolutely, and I think that's why Thurston has been so great alongside Locky for QLD. There'll be times where Locky isn't producing anything because the opposition have stuff covered. Then along comes Thurston who does something brilliant individually and breaks the game open.

It's one reason I argue with the notion that all we need at the Broncos is a "solid" halfback. We need someone who can break a game open himself on occasion too.

Especially for a view to the future when Lockyer retires we definitely need someone who can be instinctive.

Wallace is instinctive...the problem is he tries to play clinically.

Mitchell Aubusson
Jared Hayne
that Locke player is awesome cant wait to see what he can do when he returns.

Perfect examples;

Johns won a premiership with Sean Rudder at 5/8.
Lockyer won a premiership with Shane Perry at halfback.

As a playmaker if you are carrying a player who is basically there to defend and make sure you get the ball and are still able to create the necessary points to win your way through a finals series then you are tactically brilliant.

FTR I don't think that really means much... I'm not a biggest JT fan out there but I know he's capable of taking a team to a title but I honestly don't like the Cowboys when it comes to big game footy. There is something about them that just doesn't smell victory.

Manu Vatuvei. Always liked the big man!

Manu's profile in big league pegs him as a Simpsons fan and he was a fan of Gordie. I heart the beast!!!

Josh Hoffman is a player I'm really enjoying at the present to watch, I just love the way he approaches his football, lots of enthusiasm and gets straight up after a mistake doesn't let himself dwell on it instead focus on doing the job.
