NEWS Fifita awaits scans

All jokes aside; aside from being ‘good guys’, what’s in it for the Broncos to go and pay for his surgery, start his rehab and then come November 1, ship him off to the opposition?

I know he is contractually ‘ours’ still, but there’s quite a waiting list on surgeries at the moment due to COVID. Just saying.

Not sure but I would assume you run the risk of prospective players thinking you don't care about player welfare? I get he is moving on but I'm sure that wouldn't be a good look for the club. Then again I don't know how it all works or how players think so possibly nothing other then fulfilling I am assuming contractual obligations.

it’s a fantastic opportunity for the titans to welcome him to the Gold Coast. Give him plenty of cuddles and sponge baths while he recovers from his severely damaged dominant ankle

I'm sure there would be issues associated with player welfare, but I wonder if the titans would want to run the risk of letting his previous club handle the surgery??

You'd think they would want their own diagnosis, their own specialist and then to get him straight into their own rehab group.

This is why I personally, wouldn't have a problem with us taking it on but I ain't running the Titans finances. I admit to having no idea how it all works though and I doubt specialist's would knowingly do a half-arsed job both insurance and business wise. I highly doubt we have a better medical team ourselves so doubt there would be a significant difference. Was legit just trying to answer JAHHW's question constructively.

Yeah I know... I was more adding to your reply 👍

I'd imagine it would all go through insurance... whether that is the club's insurance or potentially the NRLPA having insurance (to ensure all players receive the same level of cover). I recall hearing that a portion of the player's contract goes towards insurance??

Anyway if it all goes through insurance it probably wouldn't mean a whole lot when it comes to the finances... but that's just me talking out of my ass :xxxx:

Fair point too.

I should add, I don’t wish ill on him or anyone else.

But it just seems a bit rich we now do right by him and pay to repair him knowing full-well he won’t be playing for the Broncos when he comes good. Particularly after we already did him a massive solid with the Bali incident only for him to forget all about that in the face of the ridiculous Benjamin’s being thrown at him.

I will also concede it probably sounds like sour grapes, but I just can’t help feeling 2020 has been a one-way street as far as Fifita is concerned, with Fifita ending up with a handful of diamonds whilst the Broncos end up with a face full of coal dust.

I do think you are right though. Not only would it not reflect well on the club, but we are most likely obliged to do so anyway seeing he was injured doing his job for us and he is still our employee. So in that sense, it’s only fair.

TLDR: not sure I even know what I am trying to say. No TV and no beer make Homer something something.

I believe we have the obligation to fund the operation and immediate after care. To do otherwise would be an abrogation of our duty of care to the player. If I were the Titans, I would want to be the one conducting and having oversight over the rehab following the operation though.

We don’t want to be like Homer. Who knows what’ll happen in the next three years.

Came on here, hoping to read that Dave was a chance for us this week but seeing alot of crappy comments about the injured young man.

After all the kid's match winning exploits in the jersey, is this what the majority of our fan base are thinking ??
**** THIS!!!
