POST GAME Finals Week 1 - Broncos vs Titans

In a try scoring situation.

I can't remember the last time I've seen someone binned for a professional foul that wasn't in a try scoring situation.
Tom is right, technically any deliberate foul to gain an advantage is a professional foul. Although it's one of those things where the accepted use has taken over from the original intention.

They should really be binning players who deliberately concede penalties on their tryline, but that would lead to the top 4 teams playing most games with 10 men.

It is the actual rule, whether they enforce it or not. The last time I can remember it happening was Matt Gillett and we all know that was the right decision.

When was this?

Actually, I somehow forgot the main thrust of the point I was making.

One of the points that was made, a point that really annoyed me, was that the Kahu no try shouldn't have been given because Hurrell didn't injure Kahu.

That right here, an opinion I heard and read numerous times on the weekend, sums up how backwards thinking Rugby League is. For once, the game was being proactive. There's no confusion, you can't kick at a player when they have possession of the football and instead they want to muddy the waters until somebody gets hurt.

I said last week I didn't want to get into the Ennis & Wighton shoulder charge incident because I knew it was just going to spoil my enthusiasm for the contest. The whole situation stunk, it stunk as soon as Ennis got off and it only got worse when Wighton was shown the same courtesy. The shoulder charge ban has been a joke since day dot, with players like Chris Sandow getting away with it because he wasn't big enough to hurt anyone. Sadly, since the NRL treated it as a joke for so long, we had an unfortunate instance where a young father lost his life because it was never drilled into the players. Unfortunately we're dealing with fossils who have the memory of gold fish. If the media doesn't like the way a game is playing out, they'll cry blue murder until they get their way. It's a joke and if they can't see how they've turned fans off their game, they're incredibly blind as well.

As others have said, as a product, there's nothing better than a quality game of intense fast-paced hard-hitting skillful Rugby League. Unfortunately it's at the mercy of too many self-obsessed yuppies who have no vision for the game and they're only concerned about protecting their own reputations.

Look at this dickheadery.

That's right, Phillip dickhead Rothfield is now calling it "a performance considered the worst in 40 years" to make it look like it's not just his opinion but some soft of consensus among the RL community. Remember folks, it's the worst in 40 years, so 41 years ago there was a game that had even worse officiating, but not in the last 39 years.

WTF, so the NRL leadership had to tell the ref's boss how to do his job? And it was in direct response to media pressure? What an absolute farce.

Oh and this beauty "He is considered by many to be the game’s best referee but rarely gets a shot ahead of Sutton and Cummins." once again Dickhead Rothfield positioning what is merely his opinion as some sort of fact that everyone agrees on.

Is Phil Rothfield even serious. If he actually believes that is the worst finals referring in 40 years he must be stupid. I've seen plenty of worse games by referees and bigger finals controversy then that.

Baseless stupid opinion being represented as facts.

broncospwn; hahaha Dickheadry, that made my evening.

Absofuckenlutely worst piece of journalistic dickheadery for 40 years!

Rothfields new tag IMO. Instead of "Editor at large" or whatever the **** it is.

Yeah, he was binned because Cummins deemed he purposely committed an act of foul play to stop the Dragons from taking a try scoring opportunity.

That's only when a professional foul has been enforced from memory.

Why does the foul succeeding in stopping the try have anything to do with it? Committing a foul in at attempt to stop a try shouldn't take into account the success of the action IMO. If you give away a penalty to stop a try, and it works, then it should be a penalty try, within reason of course. Either way you should be in the bin.

God I am so sick of hearing that we got a lot of help from the match officials. Ok there were some calls that confused people but we were always going to win that game.

After the Dragons game - "you only beat the Dragons". After the Eels - "they've had a rough season and Foran and Norman were out". Roosters - "yeah but you were behind 14-0 against a shit team". After the Titans - "the referees screwed them over".

So unless, we are playing the minor premiers away from home at full strength we may as well lose every game. Winning under any other circumstances isn't allowed apparently. I'm sick of having to apologise for winning.

Why even concern yourselves with what other fans think of the Broncos anymore this shit has started from day one and will never end. 15 other teams and they hate us then you know what, that just makes it more enjoyable when we beat them. I dread the day when they don't.

It's when people like Ben Ikin say it that shits me. Commentators should be impartial or at least if they have a favourite don't hate any other teams.

Oh yeah with commentators I can understand, take Gould he had a crusade against kicking at the ball to stop tries largely involving Slater, but surprise surprise he has a different tune when it happen's to a Broncos player. Sadly ex players and coaches will never provide impartial views.

Gus Gould is the worst thing to happen to the NRL. He's a fucking joke. He doesn't even have his classic 20/20 hindsight anymore. He pushes his agenda, calls out or agrees with the NRL when it suits him and can't even fucking maintain a professional attitude as a commentator. It's ludicrous that he can commentate on so many media fronts and run an NRL club.

Imagine if Wayne Bennett did that! The public outcry would be deafening.

The man is a complete numpty who pretends to know the rules. If I saw him on fire I wouldn't piss on him to put out the flames.
