Finals Week 1 - Cowboys vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

change your avatar cause that guys gone, hopeless. Hodges to live his career at fullback. Too bad hook left it to late. Norman too, shank that guy

I thought the boys played okay. The effort was much better, just the execution was poor and the timing of our errors compounded things. Sadly, it re-enforced my belief that a spine of Hoffman/Norman/Wallace/Macca is just too inferior to count in September. Wallace is okay as a #2 organiser and Macca will hopefully make the next step, but one of Hoffman or Norman has to go.

Frustrating game that basically summed our season up. It was all over when Norman threw that pass to nobody.

I was happy with our second half. Boys were courageous despite being well and truly out on their feet and I was happy to see us put on 3 tries. Was a thrill to see Hodgo back at fullback if only for a brief cameo.

Just glad the boys can rest their broken bodies. Plenty of players who should have been on the shelf months ago but refuse because they love this club as much as we do. I can't help but feel this is forgotten from time to time.

TBH I'm more disappointed with Griffin than the players, be that Norman or Hoffman or anyone else.

Thaiday should have just had his surgery and missed 8 weeks or what ever, we can cover him in the backrow. Hoffman should have been given a month off or what ever a long time ago so he's 100%. Norman should just have been plain dropped.

I really hope m1c is right and it's an injury that's made Hoffman turn to crap because we really need him to be good next year if we're going to be a chance. I also really hope Thaiday can return to the player he used to be, because besides being a workhorse he had zero impact this year.

I admire the fact that we came back at them but the school boy errors just killed us. We had a nack of making errors at the worst possible time. Hodges was huge and really is the heart of our team. He was great at fullback but I doubt his body is up to it long term. Loving how Copley has developed and Wallace and McCullough were ok. Norman had his moment of brilliance but otherwise was shit. Hoffman is just mind ****ed at the moment. McGuire has been off lately. Gillett has been woeful and Ben Hunt offered nothing. Very interesting times ahead. Petero was great in his final game as well. Reed also had a howler. His worst game for sure.

Thought Copley improved alot this year, but he was about the only one IMO

it was the last game of the season and i dont want to go on and on about it... but..

we need changes for 2013, thats a certainty. question mark over at least 5 or 6 players positions in the 17.

2013 is year of the copley.

i still think norman will be ok. he has the talent if he wants to pull his head out of his ass and do the hard yards.

we need a fullback.

The sad thing is I reckon Reed had a worse game last year against Parramatta where he made (no joke) 7 errors. Fortunately, Gillett saved our bacon.

McGuire hasn't looked the same since he had to carry the side round Origin. That would have taken a lot out of his motor & when he hurt his eye again that really put him behind the 8 ball. I don't think he's going to have a long career McGuire, that eye has been permanently damaged and he's at a real risk of going blind.

Totally agree, the coach needs to step up more than any player. We scored off the second man play tonight again after Hoff was removed from fullback, add that to the 2 tries we scored when Norman was there for 2 weeks, it's a compelling argument yet the coach can't see it.
We score from an off the cuff wrap around play which should be part of any teams basic play but we have very few plays that try and beat a team out wide by making the D chase in. Instead we play down the middle of the field and teams just compact their defence.

Griffin needs plenty of help with his attack, I hope he realises it because he obviously can get the players to play for him which is more than half the battle.

The most disappointing thing was 3 tries off the back of errors on our own line.

Other than that can't fault the effort and actually quite proud of the way we didn't give up.

Agree with the sentiments about Hoffman and Norman though.

Petero in his final stint was inspirational I thought.

Agreed, but some people wanted him to play the full 80 for most of the season. I always thought that was too much to ask.
