Just need to tough it out against one more Sydney side. After that, refs won't have any reason to play favourites.
Finally, that match was a great example of where refereeing determined the outcome of the match. They totally controlled the pace of the game which worked against us. Our momentum was derailed by the Dragons laying on the player and holding down.
The Dragons defence was good, but it was very much helped by the refs ... and our generally predictable plays.
Did anyone think that their last try should have been a penalty to us. Mac got creamed by a low tackler and Cuthbertson came in over the top to strip the ball. Should have been a clear penalty to us.
On first watch, I think the refs favoured more with us than the Dragons.
With that said, we deserved to win the penalty count and I was fairly happy with how the refs handled this game. It wasn't the penalty fest that Klein's games can dwindle into.
Whenever it became that way, I thought the refs generally brought the whistle out. Yes, they could have blown a few more penalties but on the whole I was fairly happy. And by favoured us, I'm purely talking about 50-50's. They were never really replayed so it was hard to say but there were a couple of calls in the first half that could have gone either way.
With that said, they did get lucky with that 'knock on' by Wallace.
The Macca strip was fine. Great play from Cuthburtson.
Hornby should have definitely been sin binned. He gave a perfect demonstration of what a professional foul is.
