Fox Sports....

As Jeba said, we have the firepower to win the comp, but it depends on the forwards getting on top. The side reminds me a little of 1992 (with the exception of not having a Glenn Lazarus style prop). The backline was good enough to beat anyone. All the forwards had to do was match it with the opposition.

That's the big question mark. Can our forwards lift and match it week in week out? We know what Kenny, Thaiday and Parker are capable of, but Sims, Te'o, Anderson, Setu, McGuire, Gillett...can they unearth that consistency? To me that's the difference between a great season and a struggle.

Kenny is a better prop than Taylor. Week in week out consistency, better attitude/trainer and no issues with weight.

Kenny will play Origin before Dave Taylor.

The also-rans (Sims, Te'o, Setu) these guys need to take ownership. Last year I got that distinct feeling (from Clinton as well) that it was as if they were a player in a team that they didn't belong to. Sure, they're professional football players and have a competitive drive, but when things went wrong it was more like it was someone else's problem.

Setu did nothing last year at all. Zilch. Te'o had a couple of promising performances. Sims showed a lot of ticker in the late run and into the finals, and won a bit more respect. Glenn has shown promise and heart.

But these guys certainly aren't Webcke, Thorn, Carroll, Civoniceva, Tallis. Feared Broncos packs.

Agreed, but also as I said, in 1992 our pack was hardly fearsome. It was workmanlike.

In 2000 and 2006 we needed some fearsome forwards because our backline didn't scare too many people (other than 2000 with the back 3 of Lockyer, Tuqiri and Sailor who could carve you up from the kick return).

As for Kenny vs Taylor, the biggest problem is Taylor isn't a prop. Was never a prop. And will never play like a prop. While I agree Taylor's own attitude contributed to his demise at the club, there's no doubt the fact he was asked to play a role that didn't suit him contributed to that attitude problem. Had he always been played in the role he filled in the latter half of last year he could well be the superstar "most influential player" instead of Hayne, and still be in maroon and gold.

However, ifs and buts...it doesn't matter.

Agree re Sims, Te'o and Setu...all 3 need to step up in a big way in 2010.

Who hacked Coxy's account?

Why? Because I'm acknowledging Taylor was potentially misused contributing to his poor performances? That's in the Phil Gould school of predictions. It's stating the obvious.

However, I still feel he showed poor attitude given he was told where he needed to fire up and show his value in order to guarantee a first grade spot, let alone a contract, and he didn't. If it was because he felt he was in the wrong position, then boo bloody hoo. You do what's best for the team, even if you don't like it.

Or even if it's not best for the team, as was ultimately proven to be the case...

Well the fact is the coach decides the game plan and selections etc. You do the best you can in whatever position you're given.

To me the fact Taylor couldn't be arsed training or showing the commitment they asked of him showed he's not a team player.

Brilliant individual yes.

I hope he proves me wrong at Souths an develops into the superstar he's capable of. However, I suspect he's the next Carl Webb. Flash in the pan.

I know that I've shown him some serious man-love over the years so I might be a tad biased, but to put him in the same sentence as Carl Webb is going a little far!

He won't be the saviour for Souths like their fans think he will by any means but he's infinitely more talented and even overweight a hell of a lot fitter than Carl Webb could ever hope to be - did you see Webb "box" earlier in the year? Deadset he looked like someone on the first week of The Biggest Loser throwing air swings!

Oh no i agree with you 100% on Taylor, Its more because your agreeing more and more with people the last few weeks instead of just baiting :P

I think the key to this season is having our 1-6-7-9-13 on the park as often as possible. Out of those 5, only really Lockyer will play representative football. Wallace and Parker are a chance, but I think they will play almost all of the season together. If we chop and change or 1 or get serious injuries in those positions we could be in trouble. I think we have enough depth this year to cover those positions, which is something we haven't had before which will also help.

I thought that someone had interfered with Coxys account as well. Found him, just last week, agreeing with me...very unCoxy like I feel....

Good to see on the Sunday Roast that all 4 of the gibberers left the Broncos out of their top 8.

Keep writing us off people!

Pretty brave of them considering the way we played in round 1.

That's what I was thinking. I don't think I've heard one league 'expert' include the broncos in their 8. They are probably just thinking we got lucky Friday night. To an extent, we did - the Cowboys didn't play anywhere near their best, but I'd still be more inclined to include the broncs in my 8, but then again - I'm hella biased!

And with 10 minutes to go we were GONE. 24-all, all the momentum against us, a lot of young players lacking experience.

Yet we pulled it from the fire.

Excellent signs IMO.

I wouldn't really mouth off too much on that performance.

The real test is next week.
