PRE-GAME Game II 2019

Just watched freddy and he looks under enormous pressure.
He really sounds like he's trying ti convince himself and sounds confused.

Watch Gus explain everything with perfect clarity and understanding like he's the coach on 100% Footy.

Then watch the change in Freddy afterwards.

I've had a few days to think about it, and the more I think about it the better the NSW team actually looks. Could it be a stronger side? Yes, but that doesn't make this team a bad one.

Turbo had to be included - he adds massive strike to the side. Ferguson will add some oompf into their kick return.
The default pick of Maloney instead of Pearce works massively in their favour, while he's a defensive liability - he's a calm head and has been there before - if he plays in game 1 I think they go on with the win.
Their bench is excellent and i'd say a fair bit better than ours. Add in Teddy, JAC and Cook and they are dangerous from anywhere on the field.

Question marks on their forward pack and that is probably where we will win the game if we do.

(I think they could have gone with a better prop rotation and bring Turbo in on the wing instead of Cotric would have been a stronger team selection for them, but only marginally)

I agree, I've been saying to people this match is going to be a tight one.

Napa in doubt with a small fracture in his wrist. That'll be a pretty big loss if he's out, a forward rotation including Wallace, Welch & Glasby really leaves a lot to be desired. Zero impact.

Edit:
Napa reckons he is playing, and i am glad as we will need his mongrel early on to keep the Bloos from getting a foothold early.

My issue with the team isn't necessarily about this series but potentially the issues they're creating down the line. Freddy did a wonderful job of stamping his authority on the Blues and there seemed to be a focus on unity and promoting attacking football. The way he's since thrown players under the bus, the favouritism he's shown players like Cleary as well as the double standards for Ferguson suggests there's more behind the scenes and this isn't about building a strong culture.

The decision to drop Latrell Mitchell and the news about the Bulldogs offer smells rotten to me. Who is pulling the strings?

I don't really buy into this culture change the blues supposedly underwent. IMO, the reality is Freddy came in as blues coach when Qld were in transition (no Smith, Cronk, Thurston, Slater injured for game 1) and at no point have they been under the pump during his coaching tenure. They won g1 in Melbourne and had the upper hand since g2 was in Sydney and traditionally we don't do well there.

This is the first time he's been under pressure seeing as we took g1 and you see mass changes. Culture change my arse. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Crowd expected to be 60,000.

I think the NRL are making the wrong choice bringing in a second Brisbane team. Perth is absolutely ready.

A second Brisbane team just screams of playing it safe rather than taking a chance. This game won't grow playing it safe.

Perth is officially sold out.

SF the game is, and is not ready here in Perth for inclusion into the NRL.

Playing numbers, especially juniors have grown significantly over the last few years with the arrival of new clubs.
I don't have the figures on-hand right now but could find them.

The men's state side won nine in a row at the Combined Affiliated State Championships (CAS) narrowly missing out on a 10th to VIC just few weeks ago.

There is still a way to go in terms of the media supporting any thing other than AFL.
Christ, people still call it rugby here drives me nuts.
Anything other than a league negative story on the news is a surprise.

A WA club would either need to be an existing Sydney club or new, either way would have to be heavily financially backed by the NRL with strong support from a resource company.

I've rushed through a few points there, just on my smoko break.

Mbye’s mysterious collapse occurred around 10.30am on Friday morning during Queensland’s day off.

Hislop found Mbye slumped on the floor unconscious outside his hotel-room door after the 25-year-old father-of-three made an emergency call to him, only to pass out within seconds.

Carrying a first-aid kit, Hislop immediately used an EpiPen, an anti-allergy injection device containing a man-made version of adrenaline to revive the stricken Mbye.

The Queensland rookie understands he had only a few minutes left to live after his airways closed over when Hislop arrived on the scene to treat him.

Hislop was staying on the same floor as Mbye and raced to his aid, giving him an injection of epinephrine to his upper leg to save his life.

Mbye suffered a severe allergic reaction but will be right to play.

The journalists on twitter made it sound like an episode of House and Mbye was extremely lucky to be alive. In truth, Mbye notified the team doctor and they fixed it ASAP.

But sure, Mbye was barely breathing when the doctor pumped a keg of XXXX into his veins and Mbye suddenly sprung to screaming QUEENSLANDER.

He was actually meditating in preparation for spending 73 minutes on the bench when he got so bored he forgot to breathe.
