CRICKET General Cricket Discussion - 2023/24

Look the IPL is pretty boring BUT last night, Mumbai made 245...and lost...by a lot. Ridiculous.

Head and Fraser-McGurk - wow!

I wonder how secure Warner’s spot opening is if JFM keeps up this IPL form.

Head has been ridiculous lately .
A hail storm of sixes !

How he generates the power he does on some of his shots is amazing .
Must have been to the Glen Maxwell training centre .

Damn he hit 30 off an over lol

Both of them were destructive man, insane.

Imagine a top 6 of:

1. Head
2. Fraser-McGurk
3. Marsh
4. Maxwell
5. Inglis
6. David

Some games would be 6-20 but others...300 would be in play.

It's a crazy lineup, plus Cummins/Starc/Hazlewood/Zampa...we're gonna enter the T20 World Cup with the best squad we've had. Some luck involved in T20 but geez it'd be funny to win this trophy too.

Shame JFM only faced 3 balls from Cummins, he still hit him for 11 runs. A longer battle would've been good.

So apparently the Aussie WC T20 side is announced in a couple of days, who are you going with?

For me:

1. Head
2. Warner
3. Fraser-McGurk
4. Marsh
5. Maxwell
6. Wade
7. David
8. Green
9. Cummins
10. Starc
11. Zampa

12. Inglis
13. Johnson
14. Green
15. Smith

I’ve got Green as the reserve spinner but you could even go Kuhnemann or someone like that. The reserve batsman to me is a toss up between Smith, Short, McDermott, Stoinis and someone I’m probably forgetting

ATM ;
Warner dropped by his IPL team no runs .
Marsh out injured with a sore hammy .
Maxwell on sabatical because of poor form .

Warner is out injured and Maxwell is back, played last night

That's the top 3 I wanna see too. Harsh on Stoinis, particularly if he puts up a few more big scores, but JFM can face 15 balls and win the game.

Fox Sports' predicted squad has JFM missing out. But their squad includes 16 players instead of 15 so who knows if it's on the money or garbage:

David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh (capt), Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Ashton Agar, Matthew Wade, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis

Agar and Ellis are no chance surely.

Lots of talk about the pitches being more spin friendly and lower scoring so who knows. I don't think it should count against JFM because in a low scoring game he will likely put the team way in front if he faces 10-20 balls.
