Golf - Who Plays?

Let us know how you go on your next round mate.
Posting for accountability, was stroke last weekend and hit a 104.... which look, isn't the best, but the saving grace for me is that that was with 42 putts and a bit of meltdown on a couple of holes (4 out of a bunker on one of them). So in essence, my meltdown rounds are now low 100's instead of 110+. Clean up the meltdown holes and not put like a man with no arms and I'll be low 90's, which I am more than happy to around for the time being.

The chipping was so so. Some of them came off a treat, sent one into the water (just leaked right, wasn't a missile but didn't get the plane right).

stupidly enough despite all this, my HCP went down .1 lol.

back at again tomorrow with another strokeplay round.

i ended up buying a half/half mat with long artificial turf on one side and a hard pan equivalent on the other with a bunch of plastic balls to practice chipping in the backyard, so hoping to do that daily + a few visits to the range when I have time each week.

Where did you play?

From someone who's played golf a long time, the meltdowns will never go away! Gotta enjoy the pain.

Membership at Ashgrove mate. If you've played there in recent times, I melted down on the bermuda triangle (10, 11, 12 across the road).

But it's all in good fun, I learnt when I started playing that I'm not good enough to get angry at the meltdowns, just have to laugh it off and refocus.

I'm happy to have doubles on my meltdown holes instead of triple + :)

Though by the sounds of it you need to work on your putting more. If you can lower it to 36 thats 6 shots saved right there.

yeah no arguments there. it was all part of the bermuda meltdown - 4 3putts to start the back 9 lol. 18 putts on the front so was tracking at 2pph but yeah, gone.

Im similar with my chip shots too. I can bang my drives 280 meters and then cant hit the green with my wedges.

I started playing very recently, not really a sport I could ever watch, that might be different now that I have had a lesson or two and can appreciate how hard it actually is.

I got 105 yesterday which isn't great but it's a lot better than where I was at a few weeks ago, I wasn't losing golf balls in the water, I was losing them in the trees. Decided to put away the driver and just focus on fairways, not like I was doubling my distance compared to 4 iron anyway.

I bought a mat off Amazon, it basically shows you where your divot is, without having to destroy your backyard.

Also, how much money are these companies that recycle golf balls making?

Lots. I know a bloke at my course who collects them only from there and makes about 40k per year.

Drove the green on a par 4 yesterday for the first time. Was the 1st tee at Wynnum, ~260m. Ended up around 275m on the fringe of the 8th green.

I have to give some credit to the breeze from behind but was a perfectly timed strike too.

Anyway the group in front putting on the green were nowhere near as impressed as the guys in the club house watching or my playing group.

Riverlakes the other day, we wait for them to get to the green, it's a par 4. Old mate steps up and absolutely smokes one, it drops in the bunker beside one of the guys, he was yelling expletives from 300 metres away, it was quite funny.

The fact you got on on a Saturday, I assume you're a member at Wynnum? Will have to have a game sometime if you are.

Also went to Club Champion fitters and got myself a LAB DF1. $1050 to not improve my game will be a treat, gotta sort driver next.
