Grand Final Discussion

There you go, Sam Burgess the Clive Churchill medalist.

I can understand the hype backlash surrounding Souths. It's no different to what a lot of opposition fans felt towards Lockyer during his retirement and no doubt if we had have made the Grand Final the coverage would have focused completely on him.

There were a lot of narratives to sell for Souths. First premiership in 43 years, Burgess/Te'o were leaving, Tuqiri was taking part - all the Bulldogs really had going for them was coming from 7th to make the GF but they didn't want to sell that angle so it basically just became about the mad scientist Des Hasler & to a lesser extent Graham replacing Ennis as captain.

Say what you want about Burgess, he is the ultimate forward and one tough son of a bitch. He always puts his body on the line, and he always plays with plenty of heart.

Souths will be fucked next year.

Well, the season went from bad to worse after that... Personally, the worst season I've ever experienced. Now we have to listen to the souths fans carry on for years on end again.

Congrats to Souths - regardless of the conspiracy theories flying around like bills in a strip joint they have worked damned hard to get their premiership. Their entire organisation, pretty much their whole existence, needed to be revamped in order for them to be a force once again.

A bit off topic but after tonight (by my count) only the Titans, Raiders and Sharks have yet to contest a grand final since the NRL began in 1998.

they've got an excellent coach pulling the strings though ... they'll still be well organised and strong

The only complaint I had about Sam Burgess is that he tended to get over-awed in the big games and would come up with dumb mistakes and concede really stupid penalties. However, tonight he's truly cemented himself as one of the greats of the game and as I wrote he made over 4000 metres during the regular season - more than any forward since Price and I'd wager he ended up with more metres through out the entire season making it the best season I've seen from a forward period.

Souths will miss him dearly but I reckon they'll be there abouts next year.

I need to vomit...
Have a smoke and a pancake my friend...or maybe a pipe and a crepe....

There had to be a winner and this was the lesser of 2 evils imo. I was hoping....PRAYING for Burgess to punch Reynolds in the face but still manage to get a penalty like the Anasta incident.

The 4 britbong forwards absolutely dominated. Head and shoulders above the rest.

Te'o also really stood up in this finals series. He was great once again. I never really wanted him in the QLD side, and I was kinda glad that he's leaving (for QLDs sake)... but now I would have been happy to have him come off the bench and play in the middle next year.

I can't believe it. What a year!!!! Haven't had much sleep from last night and I am sun burnt from being at the fan day today.

Can't wait to go through all my photos and hope they turned out alright.

Even better we have the Red and Green Ball on Friday, going to be great.

You know how much I dislike Rusty and his gang, and I'm sure you couldn't care less about my opinion about your club, especially at this time.

You're different from any other Rabbits fan I know, and you thoroughly deserve this one, so sincere congratulations to you, I hope you're having a ball!

Nah I understand completely. Russell's way of doing things are a bit out there and fair enough. Yet, he is a rugby league guy through and through. People might hate Souths, they can atleast give him the benefit that what he wants to do is improve the image and brand of Rugby League.

Thanks for that. I apologise in advance for what you cop from your friends that you hate lol.

At least now we have dropped a hell of a lot of tags - chokers, never seen a Rabbitohs GF in colour, the bye round, lol@souffs, shame of the league, never had a Facebook and Twitter status/tweet about the win etc.

We have finally done it and while everyone can have their conspiracy theories. This team has worked bloody hard to get here and had 2 tough losses 1 short of it in the last 2 years. They came back to win it and no-one can take that away from them.

As a fan, I was used to the days of going to a game and wondering how many we would lose by today or the hope that we might put the other team off their game enough to some how win. The days were we won 3 matches in the year and cheered them like we had won something more important than the spoon. The days the Charity Shield was the most exciting time of the year because we actually won something.

It has been a tough road and to finally be here is truly magical. It doesn't feel real and I wish my dad was still here to enjoy it with. I keep thinking if I go back to sleep it will have just been a dream.

Unfortunately, some of the pathetic morons who have etched out an "internet career" by riding the lol@souffs wave, will still be around.......will still be loud....and will still control the minds of the sheep who follow them.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching a non-QLD team win a premiership quite as much as I did yesterday. Congratulations Souths Sydney....you deserve it.

Congrats on the premiership win bro it's great that a die hard like you who stuck through the tough times and never gave up on them can finally lap up the good times and enjoy the success you've waited for so long and dreamed of for so long. As a Reds season holder for years I know exactly how you're feeling. Enjoy it bro
