I can understand the hype backlash surrounding Souths. It's no different to what a lot of opposition fans felt towards Lockyer during his retirement and no doubt if we had have made the Grand Final the coverage would have focused completely on him.
There were a lot of narratives to sell for Souths. First premiership in 43 years, Burgess/Te'o were leaving, Tuqiri was taking part - all the Bulldogs really had going for them was coming from 7th to make the GF but they didn't want to sell that angle so it basically just became about the mad scientist Des Hasler & to a lesser extent Graham replacing Ennis as captain.
