The only reason I wouldn't want to give McCullough the captaincy is that, if we do that, we're sort of locking ourselves in to having him for like his entire career.

I'd prefer to have no ties to McCullough come 2018, just in case we decide there's someone better around to replace him.

That's not the only reason...... but it's a damn good place to start !!

Yeah I certainly don't hate McCullough, I just don't rate him anywhere near as much as quite a few people on here, he's great defensively, no denying that, but apart from that he's 100% in the bottom half of the NRL in every other aspect, imo.

Seems to be a good candidate for the captaincy role.

I don't even really want him to be captain, I would much prefer Hunt or Boyd. My comment was based on the crap being said about him, not that people don't want him captain, because I don't want him captain.

It would just be a nice change to stop the bullshit about McCullough.

There's always a group of fans who dislike one of the players for whatever reason. For me there's no one I don't like atm, it used to be Hoffman, but he's fucked off and I love the team that we have now. I wasn't the biggest fan of Thaiday for a while too, but he's turned it around since Bennett returned.

At the end of the day, I'll trust whoever Bennett selects for the role, but my heart will probably drop if McCullough is named as captain.

The thing that would frustrate people like myself, is that he's not a world beater, yet he's one of those players who never has position questioned, there's zero competition for him, and when there is, they're signed up by another team. There's only a few players in the squad who deserve to have their position unquestioned, and for me McCullough isn't one of them. Making him captain, guarantees he's got the #9 locked up till he retires.

Must be Boyd or Hunt.

Parker and Macca can't do it because they get replaced during the game (you want your captain on the field all the time).

Macca also has the issue that I don't think his place is secure long term because there are better hookers out there.

Boyd < Hunt - hard to captain from fullback because it's hard to talk to the ref.....

I think I had a big issue with Macca not being an 80 minute player, which he now is. Since then, I don't think I've hated on him, called for him to be moved on, wanted him out of the team, or anything.

But he doesn't look like a captain.

McCullogh would be a good candidate in the long run as Parker is nearing the end of his career. I think Bennett will give the captaincy to Boyd as Boyd lives of Bennett's reputation a bit to much and Bennett always likes to reward him.

FTR about Parker when I looked at his career yesterday if he goes for at least another 2 years injury free he will smash Lockyer's appearance record and become the new record holder in premiership history.

Agreed he doesn't look like a captain, especially compared to the other options. My comment about agendas wasn't directed at you, my comment was directed at people that just used it as another excuse to say ridiculous things about Macca. My further comments were made towards comments suggesting people were just commenting on not wanting him captain, when that's all that was said.

Anyway like most times I just wish I hadn't said anything lol

You might want to re-read the thread dude, there's literally no bad comments towards him in this entire thread.. the closest thing to a negative comment towards him was Foordy saying that he plays better when his position is under pressure (Which is probably true, and isn't necessarily a bad thing), and myself saying that we should think about our future in the sense that, it'd be beneficial to the club not to make him captain, just in case come 2018 there's suddenly a Friend, Segeyaro or Parcell off-contract (Who may very well be the 3 best hookers in the game at that point, I'm just tossing up some names), moving on a club captain in his late 20's is a hell of a lot harder than moving on an average hooker in his late 20's.

I'm a bit late but jesus that's an amazing photo. Given you'd normally take a bunch of photos and choose the best one, how bad were the other pictures? I mean I know the bloke looks unconventional but that's like the worst licence photo ever had a threeway with my passport photo and a bad hair day, and they all used cheap hair gel for lube.

Anyway last year Maranta would have gotten my vote for captain, purely to see the journos spend the entire press conference asking "who are you?", "do you really play for the Broncos?", and "ok, seriously, who the **** are you?" But this year a couple of them would know Lachy so the joke just wouldn't work.
