Hunt has put the cue in the rack

Kodi has taken every opportunity he has had thus far, he is just so calm under pressure and has improved every time he has been on the field in the 7 spot, I'm not worried at all. I think we can win the comp THIS year with Kodi there, let alone in the future.

I wouldn't get overexcited about Kodi. He still has a lot of deficiencies and I'm still not convinced that he is a long term option. I don't disagree with the Hunt demotion but it hasn't strengthened the team by any means. Kodi has a heap of pressure on him now being given the reigns to guiding around the most high profile RL club in the world. Good luck with that.

What exactly is it that you don't like about him? Is it his lack of a kicking game?

I only ask because aside from his kicking, most other aspects seem to give lots of reasons to be excited rather than pessimistic.

Does Bennett read BHQ?

I think Hunt at his best is greater than Niko or Bunji at their best and most Broncos supporters just want to see the best outcome for our team because we all realise this premiership is there for the taking
Have you seen Marshall at his best? You've got to be joking!

I feel for the bloke, because he's always giving his all, and he's without a doubt a quality player, whom just doesn't fit at the Broncos, because what we need from him, is where is weaknesses are.

Hunt would imo step into most team's 5/8 position, the exceptions being Broncos, Sharks, Warriors, Dragons and possibly Storm, although Widdop, Maloney and Foran would be great partners for Hunt to play 7.

When I heard the phrase "Ben Hunt Dropped" on the radio, I thought I'd somehow stumbled on a station replaying their commentary from the 2015 GF.
There was no need... Why? :glasscageofemotion:

Gotta feel for Hunt, he gets relegated to QCUP and in his first game he still won't be the most talented Halfback on the field.
Ohh... nasty! :lostit:

Hunt will go well at the Dragons because Widdop is the organiser. Although he is most definitely a confidence player and Wayne dropping him isn't going to help his confidence.

I for one am stoked he's been dropped, I was his biggest fan - until he signed with the Dragons. Now his form is down and he is a traitor to the horse. So long Bhunt, it was good.......until you dropped the Grand Final.

Yeah so did Ben Walker in 1999 when he had to step in when Langer retired (and then played in England later in the year) and help lift a side dangling well at the bottom and facing their first ever potential wooden spoon. He was outstanding and people were talking up how he was going to kick it on. Well he didn't and eventually left the club seeing mixed form at different clubs. Fact is when it comes to halfbacks or 5/8ths, especially those through the development system have been hyped up(and then turned on) so early in their career but have failed to kick on.

Kodi has done well in his 6 game stint at halfback and don't take that as me suggesting he can't kick on with his career. Rather that people should keep their expectations in check and I just hope for his sake he doesn't join the growing line of halfbacks or 5/8ths at the club that have failed the hefty expectations placed by them and the fans don't turn on him.

Benjis best is behind him Hunts should be in front of him. That is what I meant, if both were to get back their possible best in 2017 then Hunt would be our man.

I think Hunt had to be dropped if he is to regain his best this year so kudos to Wayne.

Ah, makes more sense, even if I still disagree.
Benchy may have lost a bit of speed, but he has tools that Hunt could only dream of, and experience would make up the lack of explosiveness, like it did for Locky (no, I am not comparing either).

Woah, shocked it happened this quick.

Now the question is would it be better to bring Benji off the bench of Kodi? IMO Benji doesnt offer the same type of impact that Kodi does off the bench, however Kodi has been killing it in the HB roll.

This quote was the funniest though "
Hunt, the Dragons-bound $6 million man, will play for the Ipswich Jets against Norths this Saturday as the highest paid player in Intrust Super Cup history."

Benji made some really good runs out of dummy half last week. He could be our version of Penrith Peter Wallace...

God no. Benji cant tackle to save his life. I actually see no utility value in him off the bench. He is a half through and through

Wayne said on ABC radio .
Ben is one of the best ball runners in the game . A criteria of the game is to run the ball . Ben needs to run the ball

Well I'm happy that it's happened. Please, can all the posters who KNEW what WB was going to do with Hunt now come forward and write, got that wrong and I've really got no idea what WB thinks...or anyone else for that matter !!!!

BrittleBen was fragile before the gf fiasco but straight after I wrote I doubt he will recover but was prepared to give him time to heal and rebuild. Part of that should have been a very public statement or revelation, interview whatever where he said, I knew I blew it, it hurt me then and still hurts everytime I think about it, I can't change history but I can write new chapters and I accept and embrace that failure. I won't stop going forward etc etc.

Had he done that in the months after the gf I'd say he would still be our halfback and we would have seen a much stronger guy. By hiding he hurt himself. He should have totally and publicly owned it and crushed it like all failures should be treated...after you learn the lesson from them.

In the interview about dropping Hunt, Bennett said we haven't had the depth in the past to do such things and that is it a good thing. I remember a young bloke we had, Ash Taylor maybe? That he let leave with a year on his contract to go? Something like that ring a bell? I really wish he would come out and say he fucked up with that decision... I bet in 10 years when Ash Taylor is regarded as one of the best playmakers of the decade, Bennett will say some crap about it being all because he let him leave and really he should get the credit. Wayne is all about Wayne, and it's pretty annoying as a fan.

Ben Hunt has been dropped, which will vindicate those who thought that was the right move, and those who didn't, will feel exposed enough as it is. That should be enough, and I seriously don't understand the need to rub it in.

No single person on this forum has been 100% right (although I've been pretty close :p), so you can expect that what goes around, will come around, and that's just petty stuff we don't need at BHQ.

I completely disagreed with the decision at the time, as most people will know here.

That said, I understood why, and even thinking it was a mistake, I believe Wayne did it for Ash's benefit, as he wasn't going to dethrone either half when the decision was made. If anything, it showed Bennett knew he had a NRL calibre player languishing in Qcup, whom deserved better...

I hope this will also be the reason Ash will come back to us, as the increasingly loud rumours seem to indicate.
