If you are Henjak -

Anyone who thinks Taylor should be banished to Q Cup for the rest of the season must deadset have a screw loose. If he is one of your best 17, pick him.

I think the reason people (and i am one of them) are calling for Taylor to remain in Q Cup for the remainder of the season, is because at this point McGuire has just as much potential as Taylor and he is in our future plans, so therfore he should get the spot.

Yeah, if he's a regular first grader then he keeps his spot...

Even if Talyor is out-performing him? Even if having Taylor on the bench will give us a better chance of winning?

If Taylor can get his fitness up, pick him. If not, he is a liability to our defence we cannot afford.

I am starting to think Folau would rather play wing than move to the left side. If Folau wanted to be a centre and was keen on moving to the left he would have already done so IMO.

If I was Henjak Michaels would be in the QLD to find form, Yow Yeh would be outside Hodges and Folau would be playing centre with Winterstien outside him. Also Dave Taylor wouldn't wear Broncos colours on the field for the rest of the year. I refuse to see how the Broncos using him this year is going to benifit anyone but Souths.

If he continues to play the way he did against the Tigers he needs to stay in Qcup

Depends if you want to look short term or long term.

I prefer to do both, but in the case of developing young players, long term. Taylors form in the NRL has been to up and down, very inconsistant. It's going to take alot ofwork to get him to the standard required to play at a consistant level. So why should we do that? What benifit will we ge? Maybe a dozen great things for the rest of the year amoungst a heap of poor defensive reads, half hearted runs and penalties? Worth it? If your a souths fan you'd be saying yes please, saves them doing it next year.

Yeah, it's always the dilemma. But I understand both points of view.

In the end I think it comes down to how strong a team you are to begin with. If you're strong, with reasonable depth, then you can afford to dump a young player going to another club to lower grades and not develop them further.

I think back to the Broncos and Hodges in 2001. To this day I still think it was the right decision to drop him to reserve grade and promote Brent Tate to get experience.

I also agree that with established players who are leaving (eg Tate, Berrigan etc in 2007) there's no point dropping them. Their games are developed, they're going to be as good at the new club anyway.

For young, fringe players like Hodges of 2001 and Taylor of 2009, their games need a lot more work before they can be considered established. Why would the Broncos do that work for another club?

Likewise, why would the Broncos grant him an immediate release so he could immediately go to Souths, develop and potentially be involved in beating the Broncos later this season?

By all means, play Taylor when injuries and Origin mean there's no alternatives. But when the squad is fully fit and available, Taylor goes back to the Comets. Simple.
