It's the greatest game on Earth, but Origin has to be played on stand alone weekends. It cannot keep disrupting some teams and favour others, especially with the cap as it is now.

I wouldn't play them at the end of the season, as it would detract from their current value...

I used to love it but it kept pissing me off with ruining Broncos season (combined with douche players playing for qld nowadays). I would like it more if it wasnt affecting the Broncos so much.

- refereeing needs a big step up. no home ground advantage, no letting the blues do whatever they want because if you dont youll get dropped immediately after the game.

Stand alone rep weekends could be the way of the future after the ANZAC Test weekend.

You'd have to come up with some other fixtures for Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Maybe:
1. U/20 SOO Friday night (Foxtel)
2. State of Origin Saturday night (Channel 9)
3. Some kind of big $ nines or sevens competition on Sunday (SOO players excluded).

OR play SOO on Wednesday night, and play a standalone Knockout FA Cup style competition over the 3 weekends where all NRL, Qld Cup and NSW Cup sides (minus Origin stars) battle it out for a massive pay day. OR Just NRL teams.

ANZAC Test weekend: (16 teams)
SOO Week One: (8 teams)
SOO Week Two: (4 teams)
SOO Week Three: (2 teams)

You know what would happen though...they'd treat a week's suspension as 3 weeks so only really bad incidents would even be charged.

Stand alone week-ends definitely.SOO is the NRL show piece and the players are rewarded by backing up on the weekend,(bulls..t)some have to back up just 48 hours after.That is no reward for these players who bring in so much money for the NRL.This is not the way the NRL should be treating these players .Let alone the clubs who actually pay these mens wages.A lot of clubs suffer greatly over the 6 weeks which SOO runs.
