In denial?

It's simple.

If we win this year it makes 7 premierships in 21 years for the Broncos.

21 divided by 7 equals 3 which is a nice whole number. Good for winning arguments at pubs etc. Such as:

Misguided drunk bloke; "Why do you support the Broncos? they are a bunch of f***wits????"
Me; " They have won the flag once every 3 years! I bet your team doesn't have that knid of strike rate!"
MDB; "..........."

Sounds better than "every 3.5 years"!

That's why we'll win.

Plus we are awesome. _woohoo_

Won the flag? What flag? Where are our flags?

In Rugby League we win trophies. In gAyFL you win flags.

I am MORE confident in 08 then I was in 06.....that irks me.

We took the foot off the gas in the last 20 against the Knights, we were playing with them. Friday night I don't think we'll peak, my guess is round 2 of the finals we'll hit our strides.

in 2006 going into the finals ...

1. Hodges (Best form of his career)
2. Hunt
3. Stagg
4. Tate
5. Boyd
6. Lockyer (Best form of his career)
7. Perry (lol... he did do a good job though)
8. Webcke
9. Berrigan
10. Petero
11. Thaiday
12. Thorn
13. Carroll

14. Parker
15. Carlaw
16. Hannant
17. McGuire

This season:
1. Hunt
2. Kemp
3. Hodges
4. Moon
5. Boyd
6. Lockyer
7. Wallace
8. Hannant
9. Ennis
10. Clinton
11. Thaiday
12. Parker
13. Carroll

14. Stagg
15. Sims
16. Eastwood
17. Kenny

It's a pretty good team we have this year but the team in 2006 was far better IMO. To be honest I wasn't very confident in 2006, so Im not holding my breath this year.

Really? Thinking back to 2006 I think of those teams only Brisbane and the Dragons were better than their 2008 counterparts in the same positions in the top 8.

All looks that way on paper, but we have to remember that the 2006 pack were playing like dinosaurs. Even at the best of their ability that year, there was zero variation in our game plan and we couldn't get a roll on out of dummy half because the likes of Webby, Civo and Thorn took an AGE to play the ball at the best of times.

Honestly, I think we're lucky in a way that the 2006 Melbourne Storm was nowhere near as varied or experienced than the 2007-08 model. We had one gameplan to win that GF, and we were able to suck them into it and execute it perfectly.

There's more points and more variation in our team this year IMO.

Yeah, as Wayne says, the Broncos have 2 styles of play that they're executing well. It's a matter of knowing which one to apply and switching between them as necessary.

Manly will be able to beat, just put pressure on Orford on the 5th, he will start to choke.

Manly seem to be a bit of a bogey for Brisbane though (but then so are Melbourne).

The last time we beat them was in 2006 I think.

Thankyou for saving me from typing lots.

In a nutshell; look at our 06 form, post Origin....now look at our 08 form post origin. We are (not on paper, in reality) are far better side this year.

Few stats to ponder to all the people who say where finals specialists

Brisbane have not won a first week finals match in 6 years.

and according to Freddy our recent finals record reads 3 from 11!

Im still confident we can win but still a few worrying stats!

Oh I know. Apart from 2006, you have to go back to 2002 to find a winning finals game.

2002: First week: Won
2002: Prelim final: Lost
2003: First week: Lost
2004: First week: Lost
2004: Second week: Lost
2005: First week: Lost
2005: Second week: Lost
2006: First week: Lost
2006: Second week: Won
2006: Prelim final: Won
2006: GF: Won
2007: First Week: Lost

Not exactly inspirational! :P

Also whenever we've been eliminated apart from 2004, we've been eliminated by the eventual premiers. Not too much shame in that [icon_wink
