Incident at Broncos fan day

I'm not innocent in giving it to BM, but like most say, give it to him about the racist thing, or as normal in a footy forum, about his allegiances to the chooks and for being a NSW'ker supporter.

The remark about his absolutely innocent comment was way over the top, and although I will agree that this forum can be too PC at times, I'm 100% with Schmix in this case.

Furthermore, he is a kid who has admitted to his own problems, that joined a forum of Broncos supporters, which happens to be the club he supports as well, and has often been treated like sh!t!
Besides his stupid racist comment, for which he was punished and has apologised, he hasn't given back to people half of what he has copped, so he deserves some slack and recognition for that as well.

Having these wars and arguments in a forum of supporters with the same cause isn't going to attract newcomers, or make them stay. Neither is over-policing btw!

On a nicer side of things, I really enjoyed the fan day as I have some great memories from it. I got my grand final collection signed by Alfie, played touch with Corey Parker, Sam Thiaday, Mick De'Vere and Jack Reed. I got autographs from Hook, Justin Hodges, Jarahl, Ben Hannet, Gerrard Beale, David Hala and Peter Wallace. I also had a chat with Shane Webcke. A great day that was totally worth it.

He's a great bloke Webby. A friend of mine who was doing it a bit rough at the time was doing an internship and Webby was really friendly and respectful towards him - it really changed his perception on footballers.

No but i told Darren Smith though. A great bloke Shane Webcke he was someone I admired greatly, wanted QLD humiliated wanted Webcke to do well. I read one time that Gus Gould used Webcke as motivation for the NSW forwards, it obviously worked.

I wasn't referring to this one specific situation but if you want to jump to that conclusion then so be it. My comments stand and the forum has not been anywhere near as good for a few years now, policed way too tight and the explanation Schmix gave is garbage, as soon as anyone (besides Nashy) starts an argument an Admin bursts in to save the day.

Just one last word on the off-topic conversation:

I disagree that the forum is policed too tight - I can't remember the last time we banned someone and official warnings are few and far between. We generally try to step in with a polite request to back off rather that go down the slightly more official channels. I think you would actually find that we are far more lenient now than we were 3-4 years ago.

That being said, I am genuinely sorry that you and others feel this way. We do what we can to make this a pleasant place for the majority and to increase membership. I think this thread is proof that it's impossible to please everyone (and almost impossible to please anyone 100% of the time). We're not perfect and we make judgement calls that aren't always right in hindsight, but we do it all with the best of intentions. For every decision we make you could find 10 people who agree and 10 people who disagree - it's a no-win situation for us. Every time I post something admin related I know there's going to be some kind of backlash. EVERY time. It's exhausting, to be honest. If someone thinks we're ruining the forum then there's not a whole lot we can do about it.

If you want to be part of a forum where it's fine to constantly give #### to a relatively new member who has said he has Aspergers, even when he makes a totally innocent comment, then this is not the place for you.

There is plenty of banter on here that we let go because it usually involves a bit of give and take and generally starts from a fairly reasonable place. Our reaction to that behaviour will not change.

When someone is copping it from all directions for absolutely no good reason and doesn't seem to stand up for himself, then we'll step in.

I agree with this assessment. It's pretty obvious when BM is having a joke and when he's not. It's very difficult for people with Asperger's to discern humour so he does give it a good crack (I know he's gotten under my skin a few times).

To put a different perspective on it, you wouldn't mock someone in a wheelchair for not being athletic every chance you got.
