Injury Thread

that article sucks - finishes with the positive news that winter may only be out for another week, great, that's awesome news, how about no injuries!!!!!! What a bunch of "journalistic" hacks , at least try to disguise your sydneycentric/ anti-broncos approach to "sports journalism" (and I use that term very, very loosely)

That article is actually from the Courier-Mail, so yeah.

The Broncos now say four.

I would not be suprised to see Hodges name this week or next. It does say mid season so an early return would be around now.

I would be hugely surprised. He's only started running the last couple of weeks. From all my knowledge of achilles injuries it takes at least 6 weeks to get the calf muscles strengthened, lengthened and conditioned enough to be able to run and change speed/direction safely.

If he came back now I'd be listening for the SNAP.

the original prognosis was round 20, that means cutting his injury time in half if he returns this week. that could be very risky especially with an achilles injury

Based on what???

Hodges returning early at all is a ridiculous and dangerous idea. Getting that same injury so soon after it happened for the first time could end Hodges' career.

I'd rather see Hodges come back a week later then a week to early. Id hate to see him ruin next season. I havent heard any news on Hodges coming back early so i highly dobut he will be back before round 20. Hopefully that gives Hodges enough time to work his magic

I think round 15ish is realistic for Hodges seeing as he's been running and doing light training for about two weeks already now.

^^^ Quite possibly.

However, still a long way to go from now to then. No doubt the medical staff will be very careful with him. It's riskier than an ACL to come back from early.

I think a lot will depend on our finals chances but hopefully it's not till round 20 once he is fully fit and ready to play he should give it an extra week or two depending on how the team is going and get back into it.
Ideally I would like to see him back by round 17.

Round 11 BYE - Injury discussion

List of Injuries:

Justin Hodges Centre Achilles tendon Mid-season 2010
Peter Wallace Halfback Knee ligament Round 10
Matt Gillett Utility Knee ligament Round 10
Nick Kenny Prop Calf tear Round 9
Denan Kemp Wing Broken Ribs Round 9
Andrew McCullough Hooker Pectoral tear Round 12
Antonio Winterstein Wing Hamstring Round
*Excluded players who aren't likely to make the first grade.

We have a BYE in round 11 so most players will be ready by that time, maybe the Broncos will hold off on players returning till after the bye so by Round 12 we have a fully fit team besides Hodges. That is providing we don't get injuries from now till then.
Who knows maybe if we do we can get a 3-4 week winning streak than Hodges returns which will be a big boost, maybe there's a good chance of making the finals yet.

I just hope we can be competitive for the next 3 weeks facing up against the Knights, Titans than Storm.

unfortunately the Storm will have a $4.8 million to our $3.8 million (as we haven't used all of our cap this season)

It's funny, our team actually looks pretty damn awesome without the injuries.
1. Hoffman
2. Winterstein
3. Hodges
4. Folau
5. Yow Yeh/Kemp
6. Lockyer
7. Wallace
8. Kenny
9. McCollough
10. Tronc
11. Te'o
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Anderson
15. Lui
16. Gillett
17. Glenn

That's definitely a top 8 team IMO. It's such a damn shame that we seem so cursed with injuries.

Switch Wallace for Hunt, and Kemp for Winterstein and I agree.

Yes, that's what I said. Winterstein's suffering second season syndrome in a big way, and Wallace...well, he's only marginally better than Shane Perry to be perfectly blunt. If he's on more than $250K I'd be punting him with Sims and Setu in order to get Hannant, Civoniceva and potentially Inglis next season as a replacement for Folau.

I don't think Winterstein can really be blamed. He really hasn't had many opportunities to score tries.
