Any future statues should they come to be will be at Red Hill not Lang Park - because back in the days of Wally's statue RL was pretty much the only tennant there so got the run of things. But now you have RU and A-Leauge also as major tennants. If we put up any more statues of RL players there - the other sports will want some too.

Oh dear, I can't believe there are so many numbnutz on here even remotely suggesting Lockyer can be compared to Lewis in terms of their playing ability. The only thing Locky has over Lewis is that off the field, he is a much nicer, humble guy. Lewis was, in his heyday, an absolutely arrogant, stuck up tool.

So again, summing up, for those peeps saying Lockyer is number 1, stop acting like spastics!

I played against Lewis over a 4 year period from 84 to 87 and have watched Locky play since day 1 of his career and I couldn't split them for all the reasons stated above.
Totally different game being played today, Lewis would still be great but it is impossible to compare.
They were / are both the best of their time.

this is the same as people saying that lockyers a better 5/8th than he was a fullback - people that didnt actually see him play fullback for more than 1-2 seasons making their decisions after only seeing one half of the equation.

for that reason, i cant answer the question. i didnt see much of wally lewis playing, and even when i did see him play i was very young. on the other hand ive been watching intently for lockyers whole career. no way i can make a real decision because ive only really seen one player who many regard as the best of all time play a handful of matches, but seen the others entire career.
