Jack Bird Discussion

Im still fairly confident he will be spending most of his time at Lock.

JB as lock seems like the best. If we still had hunt as 9, we'd have far and away the best attack in the league with that set up.

His not big enough to be lock he would be better to take Mogas position when he leaves in my opinion.

We arent going to be paying him what we are to play center. He is going to be getting his hands on the ball a fair bit.

Most locks in our game at the moment are 100kg+ i wouldn't want a 93kg mainly center playing at lock its a unfair weight head to head on game days. Moose is 102 and then you look at Gallen and Taumalolo which are 104 and 113 which are big fellas.

Cant argue they are big blokes, but i think our playing style will be changing. We dont have to be the same as everyone else.

Haha get him to put 10 or 15 kg on in the offseason off muscle and fat [emoji123]

I know right? In all seriousness, if he can get up to around 100kg or so, he won't be significantly smaller than most other locks in the comp.

We can easily live with that, as long as we get a big bopper who can make big metres starting in the front row. Somebody who is say, 6'4 and 110kg plus, sounds ideal...

With McGuire's big metres and some size on the bench, I think much of the issues I see with our pack would be sorted.

people seriously need to stop thinking size is everything.

The Raiders and Bulldogs arguably had the two biggest packs in the NRL ... how did they finish again? in fact some of the so called experts were even saying they might be too big for the modern game

of course if he moves into the pack he will put on a few kilos, which can easily done in the off season with the right program/diet ... but bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, otherwise someone like Dave Taylor would be the best backrower to have ever played the game

Add to that , Bird is actually a wicked defender. Hits and sticks.

Size isn't everything but it absolutely counts. Hence why 3 of the top 4 at the end of this regular season have very big packs and why two of the biggest have gone straight through to the prelims, while the two smaller ones are facing sudden death...

We actually had a bigger pack than the Roosters.

It didn't help.
