Jack Reed Appreciation Thread

T Sims is more about who's been feeding him the pill. Thurston's made a lot of those left edge backrowers look better than what they really are.

No doubting he's one of the better young forwards around, but his impact is definitely compounded by having JT inside him.

Reed is there abouts, I like him, he's generally a good defender and his foot-work at the line is great but the players I've listed have shown more with the ball in hand.
It's amazing the amount of times I've seen you diminish a Broncos performance, team or player, just out of eagerness to sound or look impartial or non biased, is amazing. It generally results in the opposite!

It's okay to be biased towards your team, it's okay to elevate them and praise them, really!

You seriously often remind me of Wally Lewis talking about anything Broncos, there's always a but in any praise given, and the boot gets put in at any opportunity. At least, he has an excuse to be bitter...

Jack Reed deserves as much wraps as any of the other players mentioned. Each to his own, but he's in the top 3 for mine, especially since he has had to play alongside inexperienced wingers in most of his games, and still looked like he's been there forever.

I 100% agree. Now I know it isn't just me.

Anyone know what the minimum is?

Jamal Idris played 3 games in 2008 and was rookie of the year in 2009.

Will Hopoate only played 3 games in 2010. As did Gareth Widdop.

Didn't Macca play 3 games in 2007 or 2008 and was therefore inelligible for rookie of the year in previous years?
I thought widdop played more than 3? according to wiki he did.

Anyway Jack Reed is all sorts of awesome. He can dominate on both sides of the field!!

I actually think DCE will get it. He is playing at arguably the most important position on the field and he has had to have different fullbacks to deal with, has Foran another youngster at 5/8 only to help him out in pressure situations.

He's been a class above, and I always rated him more than snorefest Hodgkinson.

Widdop has Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk & Billy Slater to help him out.

DCE for me.

Jack Reed will be Broncos rookie of the year, and that is keeping some pretty awesome company.

Yeah I'd lean towards Cherry Evans too, but if Reed can put together more performances like the last 3 games, he'll be a real chance. Consider as well he's played left centre, right centre, wing, lock...versatile and he's done a brilliant job in every position.

Hopoate shouldn't be considered, seeing as he is leaving for 2 years. [icon_razz1

Pretty sure it's 5 games in previous year then you cannot be considered for ROTY.
Not sure if playing games in 2 years before makes you ineligible though.

Widdop's played International League before as well, I would think he would be ineligible based on that.

According to Big League 3 games is the maximum a rookie can play. So by those standards, if Alwyn Simpson made a return he'd be classified as a rookie.

He actually come out of retirement and played for the Dolphins Reggies on Saturday!

ENGLAND has approached Jack Reed about playing in this year’s Four Nations, according to the Brisbane centre’s manager.

Jim Banaghan tells Rugby League Week he recently received a call from England coach Steve McNamara about the Airedale-born 22-year-old’s availability. Reed is yet to make up his mind.

“I had a conversations with Steve and subsequent to that, I had a conversation with Jack,” Banaghan says.

“What was said remains confidential.”

The Rugby Football League had previously refused to confirm or deny if England was interested in Reed, who moved from Yorkshire to Ipswich, Queensland, as a youngster.

Unusually, Reed would be regarded as an import if he joined a Super League club because he was not “federation trained”. Brisbane, Queensland and Australia captain Darren Lockyer said at a media conference last week that Reed would definitely be snapped up by Maroons coach Mal Meninga next year.

“I’m sure he’s on Mal’s radar now and they have that emerging squad and I’m sure he’ll be part of that next year,” said Lockyer.

Unheralded Reed has played 15 first grade games this year, scoring seven tries.

I hope he nominates for England. What they need more than anything is some NRL standard backs.
