James Roberts signs with the Brisbane Broncos

is this a gee up?

the Gee crack was obviosuly a joke for the simple minded and non english speakers out there

mate DCE signed a contract and it was announced, so the hell what

like i said i dont doubt he'll line up for us. but you clowns hounding the bloke that made a simple post saying whats with the delay is a bit of a stretch, but calling me out for is a bit of keyboard warriorism isnt it?

He backed out, and then they changed the rules so it didn't happen again! C'mon mate, for someone who knows everything, you don't seem to know much.

There is no delay, his contract has been announced and in any case that is not what that poster was suggesting.

DCE signed a contract under the old set of rules where players could change there mind at any point up until Round 13 and his whole saga was the very reason they changed the rules to the current set stating that a club can't announce a signing until 10 days after a contract has been lodged with the NRL (those 10 days are the only period in which player or club can back out).

Nashy made a really sound point reading up on how everything works, it's great advice.

Huh?

so if the NRL dont agree at the contract valuation- The contract would be made to whatever the NRL deems market value

if the 3PC havent met the team cumulative criteria- Not exactly sure what this even means.

if andrew G initialed the contract on his behalf....- Andrew Gee no longer works for the Broncos so I'm not sure how he would get his hands on the contract. What if fairies abduct Roberts? What if Voldermort takes over the NRL and orders he play for Manly? Why am I bothering?

its not sorted by any stretch as far as im concerned. the only saving grace is the organisation want him, he wants to be there, so they will liekly do whatever they have to get it sorted.

this is 21st century sport mate, rules dont mean shit if a greedy player agent can get a bigger slice elsewhere.

of course not saying there's any doubt Roberts will line up round 1, but geez it was a fair concern to express

yeah mate, and if the NRL say the Dally M centre of the year should be worth $400K and we offered him $250.. what happens then? i dont know but something has to shift.

same thing with 3PC (3rd party).. if only Andrew Gee could toss the paper bags around

sorry if thats confusing but the point stands, it is NOT legit until the NRL endorses it

ill stand up and cop to a misunderstanding if thats the case, im not au fait on the stipulations of the 10 day rule post DCE.. but i couldnt give less Fs at this point

point was, if the NRL hasnt registered the contract, is it worth the paper its written on? legit question, thanks in anticipation

There could still be an issue if the reports that we need to release Copley to make room under the cap are true.

The issue being that Copley is well within his rights to dig his heels and stay. He has a contract after all.

FTR, i don't think that will happen. Copley will get an offer elsewhere (especially if we have to pay part of his wage next year.) ... He will leave in his own best interest ... And Roberts contract will be signed off by the NRL.

but technically, however unlikely, it could still fall through if we actually do need to release a contracted player to makeroom for Roberts under the cap.

I don't doubt that Roberts is going to play for us and unfortunately I am pretty convinced we are going to lose Copley even though I don't understand why we should have to when we have already lost Hodges (although I am getting the idea that we are paying for previous mismanagement). The main point I was trying to make is that the system needs to be simplified, streamlined and made more transparent if possible.

Let that image sink in for a minute.

Yeah, I work at UQ and they've been here most mornings for the last couple of months.

If James Roberts doesn't lead the League in tries scored this year the Broncos won't be playing well. He is going to feed of Milford and Hunt so well.

Video from Broncos training today.

I don,t understand why you would make a video to show how fast someone is ,and then put it in slo mo. Am I missing something @SuperFreak

He just wants to show that amazing run of the mill arm of the guy filming next to him, that is one stereotypical middle-aged right arm.

It has only taken one month under Wayne Bennett for James Roberts to overhaul his game with “The Jet” claiming he is no longer a one-man show.

Roberts is preparing for his Indigenous All Stars debut on Saturday where he is hoping to scorch Suncorp Stadium for the first time since becoming a Bronco.

The 22-year-old speedster wore Brisbane colours for the first time in last weekend’s trial in Bundaberg, scoring a try in the win against North Queensland.

The terrible conditions weren’t conducive to “The Jet” but he is adamant he is no longer focused on just producing plays for his highlights reel.

Roberts has been guilty of trying to do too much on the field to harness his blistering speed but he says those days are over. Roberts has toned down his theatrics since beginning life under Wayne Bennett a month ago.

“I’ve learnt a lot off (Bennett),” Roberts said.

“I learnt more in the first two weeks than I have in the last two years.

“I don’t have to overplay my hand. I just have to do my job.”

Roberts showed flashes of the brilliance that’s made him one of the NRL’s most exciting players in Bundaberg and he should get even more opportunities in his All Stars debut.

The return of football has been welcome for Roberts, who was the centre of controversy in the off-season as he left the Titans for Brisbane due to a contract bungle.

“It was a bit hard. It was a bit of a circus,” Roberts admitted.

“I wasn’t too worried. I hadn’t done anything wrong. It was just a waiting game really.

“Not training and falling behind in fitness was the worst thing because I knew I had to catch up at some stage but I’m all good now.”

Yeah, I'm not sure why people use slow mo in things like these.

It's stupid. If you want to show how fast someone is, you don't use slow mo.
