IMO, Jayden is a better player than Kodi...

Definitely! When he came on in the NYC Grand Final last year he pretty much turned the game around on his own and gave us the chance to win.

I had heard/read somewhere recently that the Broncos were confident of keeping Jiko, that a deal was lined up and basically agreed already. Everyone was apparently just waiting for his dad to get back into Brisbane so Jayden could discuss with his old man before signing because they're pretty close.
It'd be just like the rorters to have close to a million dollars of other clubs juniors on the books though. Their salary cap is bigger than big Bob Katter's lid, and that's saying something.

Unless of course, somehow these talent scouts are missing out on the "next GI" Mitchell, enabling the Roosters to sign him on the cheap.

Told you they're cheating. They're only putting 24 players in to their Top 25, meaning it doesn't have to spread so thin.

Darius Boyd wants the Broncos to keep rising star Jayden Nikorima

DARIUS Boyd has appealed for the Broncos to keep Jayden Nikorima, as Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy targets one of the NRL’s hottest backline prospects.

The Courier-Mail can reveal Nikorima has become the most in-demand teenager in the code, with the Storm one of four NRL clubs fighting for the 18-year-old’s signature.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett is reluctant to lose the Junior Kangaroos ace and Brisbane will hold a final round of negotiations tomorrow in a last-ditch bid to keep Nikorima at Red Hill.

Rated a future NRL star by Broncos legend Darren Lockyer, who sits on the club’s recruitment and retention committee, Nikorima has attracted a three-year, $600,000 offer from the Roosters.

But the Broncos are also facing a poaching bid from the Storm, who are prepared to release fringe halves Ben Hampton and Shaun Nona to clear salary-cap space to snare Nikorima.

Bellamy, Bennett’s former assistant at Brisbane, turned Cooper Cronk into an Origin playmaker and the Storm believe he could develop Nikorima into an NRL match-winner.

Nikorima has yet to play first grade but is tipped for NRL stardom, having succeeded Anthony Milford in the Queensland under-20s’ No. 6 jumper earlier this season.

The Roosters are privately confident of securing Nikorima, but Boyd hopes the Bennett factor will convince the young gun to shun Sydney and the Storm.

“Hopefully the Broncos do everything they can to keep Jayden,” Boyd said.

“Kodi (Jayden’s older brother who made his NRL debut in round two) has done a great job and I can see Jayden being a good player for the Broncos in the years to come.

“I watched him play in the under-20s grand final last year and he was outstanding. I didn’t realise how young he was in that game, he was a few years younger than the 20-year-olds.

“Jayden has a lot of skills and he can play a lot of positions, too. He can play fullback, centre, wing, and five-eighth, he covers a lot of positions so it would be sad to let him go.”

Nikorima has told the Broncos his preference is to stay. But the major impediment is finding an NRL pathway for him given the strength of the Broncos’ roster and the similar playing style of his older brother.

“There’s a number of clubs interested in Jayden,” his agent Simon Mammino said.

“We have fielded a few offers and we’re working through the process with Brisbane to come to a favourable conclusion.

“Jayden has been at the Broncos since he was 13 but at the end of the day, it’s about opportunity and a pathway to the NRL.

“Jayden is ready to take the next step. He grew up in Brisbane, but he’s wary of playing under-20s for three consecutive years.”

TBH I don't give a **** that we lost parcell and taylor, but I will be gutted if we lose Jikorima.

If he's chasing a guaranteed spot in the 17 it's going to be hard to give him that - where would he play? FB and halves are covered - perhaps he could play centre but he might be a bit vulnerable there.

bench utility is already taken by his brother .... could be tough to convince him that his future lies here but he has to play qcup/u20's for another season or two.

I actually think he's got more of a chance at first grade by staying put and working hard.

Hastings = unproven first grader.
Pearce = Joke

Boyd = QLD and International rep, WB's son.
Milford = Future QLD and International rep.
Hunt = Future QLD rep who has played for Australia.

No way Jayden's first grade prospects are better here than in Sydney IMO.
